Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The Boys in Blue fight to the end. I’m not sure I can do my usual after match cheers. Sorry.

I will not criticise any player. I will not criticise Pep. I will just say sorry lads you had a very bad day at the office.
It wasn’t to be, none of you came out expecting to lose. You just all had a bad day at the same time unfortunately.

Thank you to our wonderful away fans. You did us proud.

Thank goodness for the International break. I just wish that NONE of our players were going to play for their National teams and were able to have a rest.

Come back fighting City. It’s a very, very long time since I felt this way. I don’t like it. :-(

Sorry but we will definitely be ok after the break. *fingers crossed*!
Mixed messages there Eccles.

We will definitely be OK is very reassuring but then it's a case of fingers crossed.

We were the better team for most of the game. We are not clinical enough and the opposition find it too easy to create chances against us. Walker felt like a weak link.

We’ve let goal scorers leave the squad and not replace them. We let a brilliant defensive midfield prospect in Lavia leave and replaced him with an inferior player in Phillips for 3 times the cost.

Need bounce back after the international break.
Most of the game... Have you thought about writing fiction?

A very entertaining match for the neutral but a very disappointing result for us.
Once again, we began well, and should have put the game to bed. If that doesn't happen, and it isn't at the moment, we get overrun by opponents with superior athleticism. It is the way it is because we have swathes of players out, and plenty not fully fit.

Think of who is out: Dias, Stones, Ake, Grealish, Doku, Rodri, Bobb and then we have Kev, clearly not fully fit, and Walker not fully fit, and Akanji not fit. These are tough times.

I thought Rico had a magnificent first half, and Nunes and Savinho looked dangerous. Phil's off the ball movement was great, and Haaland looked really up for it. Simpson-Pusey looked composed, and Gvardiol was positionally superb. In the second half, the midfield began to be pulled around by superior runners and the switch ball behind Walker was always on. It is a shame, but time waits for no one, and Walker, KDB, Gundo, and probably Bern are no longer what they were.
Couldn't have put it better myself, well said,we lost a game in a cup that no one wants to be in,a game in champions league from which we will qualify easily IMHO,and 2 games in Premier league in November with the whole of the season still to go to put it right, which I have no doubt we will

He's right about Pep though. The man deserves all the respect in the world.
Of course. In over 50 years of supporting City he's given me moments I'd never thought I'd experience. But he's not immortal and he'll leave us at some point, sooner or later. What we need to do is ensure we make the right decisions, with our head rather than our heart.

Liverpool fans inside Anfield have been following the dramatic events at Brighton on their mobile phones.

The result was read out over the speakers and was greeted by rapturous applause.

I don't hold out much hope.....but come on Villa!!!
1-0 dippers

Like your optimism but without Rodri I can’t see how we can fix the problem of teams cutting through us with pace. Haaland is our only goal threat and with Kev in and out of the team I can’t see us scoring enough goals to be a title contender this year.
Rodri is the Ballon D'Or Winner not Superman, The Green Lantern and Spideman which is what we need.

Nunes doesn’t try hard enough for me, especially when the going gets tough. Totally disappeared along with Savinho and Foden.
Very few tried hard enough for me. 2nd best and lost out to goal kicks, long balls, headers instead of getting stuck in to win possession. We have often been poor at this but positively lacklustre now.
