Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'm beginning to think that season might have been the one where some players thought they had nothing more to achieve. Then when we won the PL last season, again making history I wonder if some thought they could coast and still win things.

Perhaps if Arsenal had pipped us, we'd still have the hunger.
I think this season they are all mentally and physically knackered. That and the replacement players are not good enough for City..

Seems like 1 season to many for this ageing squad both physically and mentally which is totally understandable. New d.o.f in the summer possibly a new manager and some fresh blood to replace the ageing players that have give us so much.

Not all have turned into people we’ve loathed.

We’re STILL MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

Sorry @jimharri but I had to shout this time because it is not the end of the season. It’s just a blip. I’m beginning to get over the loss. :-)?
Rag...............

A note aside, and the constant ongoing about Cole Palmer; I don't think he would be developing into the player he is if he didn't leave City. There is no way on earth he would have made 45 appearances last season if he was still with us as he just would simply not have got into the team.
Okay, but he said he said he wanted to go out on loan to be ready to come back ready for our first team and Pep and the club said no. That's unforgivable. The whole ethos of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on our academy was for players like Palmer.

I think most of us had the feeling we'd lose before the game. Even when we went 1-0 up I still thought we'd lose. If we could have got the second goal when we were on top I would have still been worried I but thought we may get a draw.

This team peaked ( Obviously) in the treble season and we needed to start strengthening then. We had great players but they weren't getting any younger. Our recruitment lately has been poor. Nunes is trying his best but is a level below our standard. Savinho ( Yes I know he's young) is flattering to deceive. Doku the same. We won't even mention Phillips.

Partway through the second half I had to nip to the shops before they closed. We were still 1-0 up but the writing was on the wall. I came back and we were losing 2-1. I was gutted but not surprised and that is the worst part about it. Every game atm is predictable. On top, usually score, fail to increase that lead then fall apart. Rinse and repeat. I've just watched their goals back and the defending is absolutely shocking, particularly the first goal. Lewis lay on the floor, players with weak challenges. It just needed somebody to take charge and boot the fucking ball into row z. The second goal was equally abysmal. As usual easy to play through and he's one on one with Eddie.

I've no idea where we go from here or where the next win is coming from. For once I'm fucking delighted we have an international break. Every single one of our players needs to stay at home. We desperately need all our key experienced players back but sadly, even then, I don't expect a great improvement.

Bizarrely if Liverpool and Arsenal drop points we're still in it, but in our heart of hearts I think we all know this season it is going to be a step too far. The club is at a crossroads and everything hinges on these fucking charges. We hopefully come out of them unscathed and strengthen with the fresh top quality the squad desperately need.
Spot on.

I’ve never seen a football team have as few injuries as we had in that treble season. Cancelo injured Foden in training and then got fucked off, then Foden got appendicitis and that was about it all season.

The lack of injuries won us all three trophies because we had 11 of our best 15 on the pitch almost every week.

We have been extremely naïve since then. Did we think that would last forever in some kind of delusional fantasy? Injuries are part and parcel of the game and we were never going to see another season like the treble season for lack of injuries. Yet we’ve been poor in the transfer market and our squad has drifted in quality since and it’s been highlighted when we have had injuries.

The good thing is, I’m not impressed with any team I’ve seen in England or Europe this season and a few first teamers coming back and we may get ourselves up there, but I think it’s just a bit too much for us this season to win either of the big two.
