Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We are knackered and without fitness

No one is fit.

De Brunye
Ake
Akanji
Grealish
Lewis
Walker
Gundo - all look half fit and shagged

Dias
Stones
Doku
Rodri
Bobb - all completely out

What exactly do we expect to play like?!
Not the same, coz that's not working

In 2 weeks time, we'll pummel Spurs and a week later take at least a point at Anfield. Then we'll be up and at 'em for the long run-in - through Christmas and right on into the summer, sweeping all before us.
This injury and fatigue crisis, leading to:-

Rubbish defending
Lack of creativity
Wasting too many chances and getting punished, so we lose control of games.
Relying too much on youngsters when the experienced players are struggling.

Will all seem to be a short, distant nightmare, as we collect our silverware next May.
Up the blues!
what else is Santa getting you....

There could be an element of that. We are also burnt out mentally and physically. The players that have been so key are now coming to the end of their careers. Rodri being out is obviously huge. Not replacing Alvarez. I've just seen a stat that we have ten players over the age of twenty nine. I'm not sure where we will be at the end of the season. I do know the close season will be huge.
This season for me is the one where we will drop in intensity and maybe try and regroup for next season.
We've been at it for four years, we've won four league's on the spin and in imho it's finally took it's toll. Players are that bit older and not sharper, we got some tired bodies and minds at the minute out there.
I can only applaud the manager and the team for the past few years, to have a go and call them out shows total lack of awareness of the achievements.

Diabolical second half. No shots on target in the second half, 9 minutes of casually dicking around like we're 5-0 up instead of trying to rescue a point. Team look like they don't give a shit at the minute.

I expected a hammering in truth, it wasn't but that was somehow even worse because Brighton themselves were miles off it and looked to be handing us 3 points on a plate only for us to capitulate. They were much better than that against the dippers and still lost twice to them in a week.

We might only be 5 points adrift, nowhere near an insurmountable deficit, especially at this stage. but the one thing people aren't factoring in is that we've had an extremely kind fixture schedule until now, we've played just 2 of the traditional big 6, we've got a heavy fixture list over the next 2 months, we're currenrly getting torn apart by bang average sides, a top side will annihilate us.

Injuries aren't solely responsible for this, it's a tactical issue that Pep has shown no signs of looking to fix and so this will continue throughout the season.
Agree with much of that except injuries play huge part in this. Also the players currently on the field have had no rest whatsoever. Will they get it during the international break? I doubt it.

Our net spend is not in the top 10 over the last 5 years, in the Prem. The media won't tell you that but it's true. That was always going to have a consequence at some point. Top 4 would be some achievement this season, then we take control again next season.
