Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

What is our defence line? Rico, Walker, the young Simpson!!! What do you expect? Very poor defence line.
We have had our experienced defenders at stages this year and teams have been able to score at will v them also.
Biggest issue is the huge lack of pace and creativity in midfield and zero goalscoring threat from our wingers and a lack of options on the bench having just 1 striker in the entire squad.
Midweek and today, we had chances when on top but our finishing is pathetic and we simply do not have enough players capable of scoring and that is a huge part of the problem.
It just seems we do not do anything in training ie fitness work, finishing, defending

A very entertaining match for the neutral but a very disappointing result for us.
Once again, we began well, and should have put the game to bed. If that doesn't happen, and it isn't at the moment, we get overrun by opponents with superior athleticism. It is the way it is because we have swathes of players out, and plenty not fully fit.

Think of who is out: Dias, Stones, Ake, Grealish, Doku, Rodri, Bobb and then we have Kev, clearly not fully fit, and Walker not fully fit, and Akanji not fit. These are tough times.

I thought Rico had a magnificent first half, and Nunes and Savinho looked dangerous. Phil's off the ball movement was great, and Haaland looked really up for it. Simpson-Pusey looked composed, and Gvardiol was positionally superb. In the second half, the midfield began to be pulled around by superior runners and the switch ball behind Walker was always on. It is a shame, but time waits for no one, and Walker, KDB, Gundo, and probably Bern are no longer what they were.

It’s a long season but if we keep performing like this, time will soon run out. I wouldn’t say it’s a crisis when we’re second in the league but it’s definitely concerning.
We need some key players to come back and spend some in January to fill the gaps.

Never stop believing! CTID

Jeez, get a grip of yourselves.
We’re paying the price for 5 or 6 years of high intensity, high pressure and high quality football, which has burnt some players out physically and mentally, they’re breaking down.
It’s not great to watch, but to read some of the Pep and player criticism on here is laughable.
We’re not entitled, no team can keep up the intensity we have played at with all the key injuries and, it might be a dissapointing season, so wind your necks in, nobody on here is qualified to criticise Pep, signings or non signings, stick to your day jobs and get behind them, or feck off.

Lewis shite, should have been pulled form starting line up a long time ago.

Walker, absolute disgrace, embarrassment to our armband.

Phil, what has happened?

Gundo, say no more, I could play better having had an ACL a few weeks ago.

Bernie, over the hill.

That’ll do for now.
You forgot Kev!

I'm done with this team

Absolutely disgraceful stuff. Can't even do the basics right. Developed a weak mentality and can't hang onto a lead. Only a few players are doing their job but we've become bottle jobs!!!

Pep is a spent force. In reality, most managers get a good 10-15 year run if they're a top manager and that's their lot. Pep is probably there now.

Without Haalands goals we would be bottom half. And nobody can say we would play differently and players would make up the goals if he didn't play because they wouldn't, they're all performing shite. Haaland should be looking for his move away.

Every dog has its day and we have. We'll be pretty much on the same downward spiral the rags have been for 10 years.

But that's football. You can dominate forever. English football history tells us that.

I've had a great 3 years supporting city, since 2021 because I wanted to support Grealish but I've lost hope.

Well done Brighton. Great spirit. Definitely a team I might align myself with.
Hahahaha, 3 years? The least you could have said is since 2008.

Need players back, for the presence and the intensity. Our trend to disappear second half is frustrating.

I think with so many band aids in place, player weaknesses and losing concentration look even worse as there just aren't the experienced heads to cover it. Not ruthless, we look fragile, hard to recognise from city of recent years.

This is where leaders should step up. Pep, Gundo, Walker, Kev... It's not acceptable. By the time we next play we'll have a few more back. We'd better have had our seasonal ah-ha moment before then because otherwise they may as well kiss those trophies all goodbye before we even hit December.

I can see your frustration. But the guy has enough credit in the bank. Let’s not show weak mentality, we are still on the race.
It’s not a case of credit in bank, I’m not saying sack Pep, just saying it’s time for change and he’s not going to stick around for long enough to oversee the evolution so let the new guy mould his own squad.

I just wonder if there's something going on behind the scenes. Every team goes through a bad patch, and we're running on fumes, but the players just seem so disinterested and moody. Maybe it's just frustration but I do wonder if something is off in the locker room.
100% correct. Pep contract situation is probably passing a few off but KDB, Walker,Silva, Haaland all probably would move on. Gundo return is a spectacular failure and Grealish and Foden who knows?
Where was Doku today? Last match it looked like he made s slight difference. Silva and KDB both did fuck all. Brighton carved us apart with inexperienced kids

Another a half a job type of performance. It is just about do-able to win the title but a major improvement is drastically required. The current team is slowly losing their hunger. There were a few alarm bells last season but we did manage to claw it back.
The manner in which we gave away the FA cup final rather than trampling all over Utd was a disturbing indication.
What a pile of donkey spunk.
i have always wondered what that looks like…
