Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Walker has been wank recently.

Saying this, i still believe City will win the league
The last time Walker played he had an injection of some sort to get through the game, because we had noone else fit enough. Today did he have another, I dont know, rumour has it he isnt training. We are going through an unprecedented run of injuries and the senior players will be as hurt as we are but the show must go on. I am no happy clapper and my opinion is we will not win anything if this run if injuries carries on but I am sure the powers that be are well aware of the situation. Keep the faith we will be back.

The Boys in Blue fight to the end. I’m not sure I can do my usual after match cheers. Sorry.

I will not criticise any player. I will not criticise Pep. I will just say sorry lads you had a very bad day at the office.
It wasn’t to be, none of you came out expecting to lose. You just all had a bad day at the same time unfortunately.

Thank you to our wonderful away fans. You did us proud.

Thank goodness for the International break. I just wish that NONE of our players were going to play for their National teams and were able to have a rest.

Come back fighting City. It’s a very, very long time since I felt this way. I don’t like it. :-(

Sorry but we will definitely be ok after the break. *fingers crossed*!

Look on the brightside.
Carry on like this and some of these fake fans might fuck off again

It doesn't seem like Pep has actually learned from any of the previous defeats. I expected us to lose as Brighton are decent and have strengths that match up well against our clear weaknesses.

Seeing the line up, it was evident that it was going to happen - the middle is weak, the fullbacks are ill-suited or out of form and too much is expected from Gundogan. Our strategy can be good going forward and we definitely should have scored more, but it's got serious weaknesses to it. Nunes or Reilly need to be given time in the centre of the pitch as it's really getting embarrassing seeing a Pep midfield be this porous.

When so many players are underperforming, you have to look at the coach.

Fair. But we've had injuries for the past 8 games and absolutely nothing has changed. Tbh we've played the same since the start of the season and even pre-rodri things were a challenge.
But the injuries have got progressively worse..

The team needs protecting tactically until we get players back.

We all know it takes special players to play the way pep wants .

So why does he keep banging his head on a wall with square pegs and round holes..

I think most of us had the feeling we'd lose before the game. Even when we went 1-0 up I still thought we'd lose. If we could have got the second goal when we were on top I would have still been worried I but thought we may get a draw.

This team peaked ( Obviously) in the treble season and we needed to start strengthening then. We had great players but they weren't getting any younger. Our recruitment lately has been poor. Nunes is trying his best but is a level below our standard. Savinho ( Yes I know he's young) is flattering to deceive. Doku the same. We won't even mention Phillips.

Partway through the second half I had to nip to the shops before they closed. We were still 1-0 up but the writing was on the wall. I came back and we were losing 2-1. I was gutted but not surprised and that is the worst part about it. Every game atm is predictable. On top, usually score, fail to increase that lead then fall apart. Rinse and repeat. I've just watched their goals back and the defending is absolutely shocking, particularly the first goal. Lewis lay on the floor, players with weak challenges. It just needed somebody to take charge and boot the fucking ball into row z. The second goal was equally abysmal. As usual easy to play through and he's one on one with Eddie.

I've no idea where we go from here or where the next win is coming from. For once I'm fucking delighted we have an international break. Every single one of our players needs to stay at home. We desperately need all our key experienced players back but sadly, even then, I don't expect a great improvement.

Bizarrely if Liverpool and Arsenal drop points we're still in it, but in our heart of hearts I think we all know this season it is going to be a step too far. The club is at a crossroads and everything hinges on these fucking charges. We hopefully come out of them unscathed and strengthen with the fresh top quality the squad desperately need.

He scored plenty last season in La Liga. Needs his first goal and hopefully that will bring more.

And people called Riyad FFS!
Hope you're right. He's certainly quick, has a very good first touch and can beat a man but I wonder if he just tries to do things too quickly at the moment. Also I've seen him cut inside and (presumably) try and curl the ball into the top corner but he's never managed to get any curl on the ball. Hopefully things will right themselves or the lad will benefit from coaching sessions with Pep.

Anyway we're getting the usual hysterical reactions from a section of "our" supporters" because Pep is leaving, isn't interested anymore and has stacked the team full of apathetic old men! I thought today's line up was a strong one but we are short in some areas, still depend heavily on KdB and, of course, Rodri. We are vulnerable down the middle, especiall to pace but Rodri reads the game so well. If Rodri were on the pitch today we don't concede those goals and with some of our other injured lads we take more of the chances we create. The question is, how long will it be before we can pick something like our strongest eleven.

That wasn’t a great performance or result, and we are not playing well, arguably since before this run of defeats. But look at where we actually are, lost a couple of league games, at worst 5 points off the top, it’s not the end of the world and definitely recoverable.

We are playing with players who either haven’t been rotated as they normally would or are having to play injured, you can see it through the drop off in the late stages of the matches.

It’s all about hanging on and being there or there about at Xmas. As long as we are in touch and the injury situation improves I will always back us in a race to the title.
Like your optimism but without Rodri I can’t see how we can fix the problem of teams cutting through us with pace. Haaland is our only goal threat and with Kev in and out of the team I can’t see us scoring enough goals to be a title contender this year.

Kevs sub was on pep. He was a passenger but not sure how else he is supposed to get match fit although think todays timing was poor. Maybe no one else fit enough to come on but then shouldn’t be on the bench.
We seem to be a 45 min team at the minute.
Feels bad to criticise players after urging they given us but Walker is miles off. He may be distracted by trying to support others but he really needs to concentrate on his own game as he miles off his gold standards . Kev was one of the best but age and injuries seem to have caught up with him.
Phil has great moments but rarely takes a game by the scruff of the neck.
Simpson pussey has done well but unfair as he has been thrown in.
Nunes has improved but hard to see him becoming a mainstay and he’s a bit of a soft arse.
Unfortunately we don’t have fear factor anymore and well drilled Youthful athletic team s like Bournemouth and bha are now a match.
Not sure we are good enough to win league but capable of making it interesting if can get some of our core squad back
