Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

As many have said already it's too new a team we're playing with now. They don't know each other yet on the field of play and it could take a long time to gel. Time we don't have unfortunately because of a shit last season, a season where if we'd won a trophy of some sort the pressure would've been off a bit. I don't think our owners will settle for another mediocre season therefore I'll be amazed if Pep sees this season out

Pep will not be sacked mid season, I can’t see that at all
However if it carries on like this, I think everyone will shake hands in May and go their separate ways

Doku
Bobb
Sav
Grealish
Out of sorts Foden
Aging Bernie
Marmoush

Some of the worst forwards in the league there.
Including Grealish in this list when he's not even at City anymore but balling it out at Everton is some top comedy.

If a manager of his stature can’t motivate a squad anymore, then he’s done in my opinion.
I’ve seen zero desire or application from a team full of experienced internationals this season.
If we were blooding youngsters like other teams do, then I’d get it, but we simply aren’t.
Three games FFS

Did you see zero desire in the Wolves game, could and should have been 2 up v Spurs were the better team for an hour yesterday

Blooding new players who are all relatively young and new to the club and PL but you might have missed that

We probably blood as many youngsters as the clubs again you might have missed

Right, I’ve chilled now, so miffed off after the match yesterday!
Pep can’t walk or be sacked, we’re in transition, otherwise we’ll be in a similar situation Fergie left United regard coaching staff and players.
He’s not finished the project of rebuilding and moulding players, it takes time for some of the cherubs to get it through their heads.
Maybe a couple need moving still, but we’re stuck with them until January, unless they go in the next 9 hours or so.
Two players who started yesterday, started the same fixture last season, let that sink in!
Yes it might be a disappointment this season, who knows, anything could happen, to any team?!

Just waiting for @BillyShears to pipe up with one of his “everything is great, we’ll give someone a pasting in the next couple of weeks” posts, now.

Did a shag your bird or something? You seem to be another poster who I barely remember interacting with who seems desperate to have a fight with me.

Here's a pro tip. You crack on, I'll stick you on my ignore list, this way you can take out whatever frustrations you have on me and I don't have to worry about wasting my valuable time reading them. We'll both win.

Possibly clutching at straws here but when the games start coming thick and fast I think we'll see improvement. A week gap inbetween games just doesn't suit us, we're generally shit

Just rewatched the second goal. Puts a poor challenge and then just jogs back when in fact he could’ve been back on the line in time to block that goal. Reminded me of Kolarov against Liverpool that time, only he at least played a good bit of the game unlike Dias. It’s a mystery to me why he’s been in such decline.

He's been so bad it's unreal. He's literally offering nothing. When I watched that 2nd goal back yesterday I was absolutely fuming. How can he jog back like that. I can't get my head around he just got a new contract. Also when he came on we look so disjointed at the back.

And you've jsut answered my point exactly.

At City totally underwhelming.
Goes to another club and looks revitalised with 3 or 4 assists already.

If Sav goes to Spurs, I can see the same.

Three games is a good indication of where we currently are. We beat a bottom-third side with the scoreline probably flattering us, lost at home to a top-six aspiring side, and lost away to a middle-ranking side. Going to be a long season.
I said this after the Spurs game. It fucking hurts like fuck but true. No fight, no passion. Absolutely clueless.

We’re terribly disjointed, though it’s not helped by the situation pre-window. We have a number of players unfit/undercooked and about 5-6 players that the club would like off the books, so there’s actually precious little competition for a first-team spot.

To be fair, I know the scoreline against wolves said we thumped them but there was a 10 min spell first half and 20 min spell start of second half where we could not win the ball back off them, they created some decent half chances, I remember thinking at the time that a better team would score a couple against us in that spell.
The goals against wolves encouraged me thinking our tactics have changed, more runners, slick fast attacking, a bit like Liverpool, but spurs and Brighton has changed my mind on that.
There was a moment yesterday where Lewis had the ball in the middle with at least 20 yards of space in front to run into but he kept looking to his left then started running that way with the ball, that allowed Brighton to re shape, contrast that to the last 20 mins I watched of Liverpool game and players were carrying the ball at speed running straight at arsenal.
It's making me think the players we are buying are for the next manager but we still have players who are more suited to pep style.
It's from last season and already seeing signs this season, something isn't quite right.
Pep likes to control and that's how he defends with control of the ball, the players we have now can't keep the ball as well as 3+ years ago.
We used to attack with players finding space in the tighest of spaces, these players can't do that.
I'm genuinely thinking (hoping) we are in the middle still of a long transition for the new manager, I know pep has 2 years but I can see him leaving at the end of this season.

previously when we required a top central defender we went out & got him Laporte for example, i’m absolutely dumbfounded why we’ve increased his contract length when i saw that news i thought what! Why? He had a few very good seasons but his form & seemingly ability has regressed to a frighteningly low level, Khusanov is head & shoulders above Dias at this juncture the only negative you can say about Khus is he can be rash in tackles similar to Otamendi but that can be coach out of him to maintain his aggression but not to go overboard, Josko, Stones, Khusanov are first on the team sheet for me but if any of them get injured we’re in trouble especially considering Stonesys injuries down the years, but if we have a Dias, Nunes/Rico Ait Nouri defence we’re gonna leak goals all over the shop, Dippers are bringing in top talent Isak probably Guehi as for Wirtz they’ll see best of him next season, but being brutally honest we’re looking like a team battling the top 6 to sneak into the top 4 basically Villa or Newcastle & i don’t mind telling you i’m dreading the Derby because they are terrible but we aren’t looking any better & their counter attack style will probably see us 1-0 up at halftime before they get two late stuffy goals courtesy of some self inflicted billy smarts circus clown like defensive idiocy.
So your predicting an exact repeat of last season so. You might be right.

Well you will get your wish when we play Utd Napoli and Arsenal within 7 days. After those 3 games we really will get a chance to assess the current shitshow.

Most telling thing from yesterday was Rodri’s interview. He knows how far standards have slipped and that some of the team are miles off being good enough

The most frustrating aspect of yesterday was the way we tried to manage the game in the second half. We're at our best when we're constantly trying to score goals and the minute we try to control the game we end up inevitably having less control.

The team isn't stable enough to be playing the way we did in the second half and even the best versions of ourselves struggled to do it.
