We need a right back. It's a shock I know, but yet again that was our problem area. The penalty he couldn't do much about, but so many poor touches from him, he just isn't good enough if we want to be successful. And neither is Rico yet.

We didn't have a shot on target since Haaland's goal I think I heard...unacceptable. Rodri was very good but even with him in there it was like we had no structure or fixed patterns of play. Too many taking loads of touches before losing the ball.

As soon as Brighton upped the tempo we were gone.

If it continues like this I can't see Pep staying much longer, and it won't be his decision.

The passes aren’t working. It used to be them chasing shadows, getting knackered and us capitalising on that. Now they let us have it. Pep should take it as an insult, not our whole way of attacking.

That's not what is happening. We have lost our composure and control. A lot of that is to do with replacing quality with overpriced mediocrity.
 
My assessment:

5 mins into the 2nd half I wasn’t impressed at all. I had a bad taste in my mouth because this team is very infuriating to watch. They’re boring and slow. My biggest problem with these lot is they play as if we’re 2-0 up after scoring 1 goal. They play as if NOTHING is on the line. It’s a friendly or something.

The whole time I’m seeing people at walking pace, not taking any shots, not running into space, waiting for defences to settle. I’m thinking to myself how do they magically think goals will happen.

It’s absolutely ridiculous ! You are away from home against our bogey team that did the double against us IN OUR TREBLE SEASON!

It can’t be the money.because we’ve a spent a ton.
It can’t be the players because there’s about 8 new players.
It can’t be the system, the entire back room staff has changed.

You’re left with on option.


Yes we have injuries but that doesn’t mean you can’t play with any urgency or creativity. Why is Gundo and Ederson on the bench when Mukasa is the only creative player we have. Why is Reinjders playing like Bernardo ? The club saw that there’s nothing wrong with having Rico and Nunes at RB well here are the consequences of your actions.

Rodri started. Haaland is there. Marmoush played well in the first half. There’s no more excuses.


This is why I was so worried after Spurs because I have NO idea who to fix this. It’s not like during the 4Peat when it was obvious.
Stop playing centre backs and strikers into midfield and just play Kova and Foden in the middle and let KDB do his thing. It was such an easy fix. This time it doesn’t matter if you swap players, Khusonov for Dias. Bernardo for Nico G, Marmoush for Doku. We still can’t keep a clean sheet and we still lose.
 
A footnote. Did anybody else just know when that Norman Wisdom lookalike prick Millner came on they'd get a penalty and he'd score?
 
Bunch of talented individuals but will never be moulded into a team - complacency all over the pitch - was always unsure if Pep could rebuild just with a 2 year extension - Nunez had his arms in the air before the Brighton player kicked the ball - just one example of ineptitude Trafford last week being another - Haaland will never reproduce his stats 1st season and for 500 grand a week at least he could win the odd long ball - we were always going to need 2 speedy fullbacks even 3 years ago but wasted 100 million on Grealish - no point in changing manager cos we bought the wrong type of players but Pep should go at end of season - always be a legend but time to move on

I get that - but why oh why doesn't he bring Haaland into play - use him as a target man, defenders would hate that - players running off him may get some luck too. Instead it's like - absolutely do not give Haaland anything unless it's 100% chance.

I feel like its a bad dream, I keep my rubbing my eyes.

Going into a Prem season with ait nouri & Marmoush one side, and numes and bobb the other!!

What happened, surely this isn't what they planned.

and the real problem is that that picture could be taken countless times over the last few games and last season -

Pep is getting this wrong and the players either arent good enough to play his way (but he wont change) so it change him or the players (I hope it the players) - too late now however

I will add the captain should be screaming at his mates to keep shape and stay with runners - I think we have become too arrogant and are paying the price.
