Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Jamie Vardy played for Stocksbridge park steels and won a Premier League title as well as lifting POTY so jog on pal.

Lol
He makes a fair point. Wolves did fuck all with em so why should we. We used to be trying to get the Kane's of this world now were shopping at Lidl with the rest of the mid table.

For me it all comes down to Arrogance.

Thinking we can play midfielders at full back.
Thinking we can push everyone forward.
Playing a high line with no pace.
Playing walking football and expecting to score.

We've become disrespectful to the other teams.

Our weaknesses are obvious and consistent.
It's become SO easy to beat this City team :
Work hard.
Defend deep.
Counter with balls over the top.
Repeat. Week after week after week.

We know that Pep is hurting, and we know that his style of play can be amazingly successful. The intensity needs to come back and it needs to come back NOW. Pace, power, desire, intent. All the things that were absent last season.

One thought from today is that we're playing like a team still in preseason. Were we too soft on our players (post Club World Cup) by not getting them back for more preseason games?

Disclaimer: I don't know anything about the back-room staff, or their history. Or the board.

Is there a designated defensive coach at the club?

I remember - and there could only have been a handful of games left in the season last year - when I heard an amazing stat, that Burnley had only conceded THREE second-half goals all season.

I appreciate that they were one of the strongest teams in the Championship. I also realise that some will say that they were only defending against Championship attacks - to which the obvious answer is that they were doing it with a Championship defence.

But that can't have been luck, over such a long period, can it? That smacks of either a team, or an individual, who seriously understands how to coach a defensive line.

Jeez - if it was one man, he wouldn't even need to move house...
I don't think they exist any longer. Don Howe was the last

We have turned into a penny pinching net spend obsessed club.

Maybe we have been blind sided by the truth

Pep is the greatest manager we have ever had and has won things that dreams are made of, but the truth is, life outside of the Pep revolution is other clubs have won silverware and titles, Champions League.

Football has changed 100% and clubs have worked out a system to play against Pep teams and be successful at it.
That's where we are today, 5 years ago, teams like Brighton would not have beaten us home or away with Pep happy to be here ?

Watching Liverpool vs Arsenal and I'm coming to the conclusion that the level of the league this year is going to be pretty poor. Both these sides look effective but average.

Where are the truly great players?
At Liverpool and Arsenal apparently

It’s become a wrestling contest this league, by the look of these “top 2” teams.

Brighton played list they would go down until today.

I watched Grealish first start at Everton last weekend. They beat Brighton 2-0. Brighton looked quite weak. Everton had a blast.

Never thought City could not finish them with a big win.

what is going wrong?
Agreed Brighton were garbage against Everton, yet somehow our lot managed to make them look good.
Every week I go on about our fitness and I will say it again, there has been something not right with our fitness and especially the strength and conditioning for a couple of years now.
The whole team starts well every week then drops off alarmingly unless we are a couple in front and can just play the game out, the fitness is shite.
It also shows with the amount of daft injuries we are getting, the slightest knock and they are out for weeks, look at the two teams on the telly now, both Liverpool and arsenal are sides full of units, out of our lot I would say probably only rhodri and perhaps gvardiol are the only two who you would say are difficult to knock off the ball, the rest just get shoved out of the way.
Haaland is a prime example of the fitness thing, when he signed for that first year he was huge and unstoppable, defenders just bounced of him, now he has half the strength and is getting knocked all over the place

New set piece coach but we still had Bernie marking Dunk. Whatever happened to our big men marking their big men, it’s simple
One of our big men thinks he’s a vlogger get ready with me type crap he thought it was ok to give an update on his relationship to a tabloid this week. Guess who

I must admit this one has really got to me today. We're miles off and I think we'll have to come to terms with a few things - we're going to have to move on from Pep which is going to be difficult and replacing him will be nigh on impossible - we've seen what some of the replacement players have been like, replacing our greatest ever coach is going to be more difficult by orders of magnitude

Yep and why knee jerk by our club won’t happen Pep won’t be sacked he will be given this and next season and backed in the market
Personally, I don’t think we at that point. Clubs don’t always sack managers though, it’s normally fan pressure, and he would probably walk any way.

Thinking the same. Prem is so overrated and over hyped. When ya add in the absolute abhorrent officiating makes it even worse. Not to mention the on cue stoppage time winners produced by the red cartel teams on the regular. Things that make you go hmm...

All of this was predicted by various people on here weeks and months ago.

1. Let Ederson go - team press higher. Our defenders are not good enough on the ball and lose possession or the keeper kicks long we lose possession.

2. Dont get at least one specialist right back- our back 4 will struggle

3. Dont get at least one centre half to cover for Stones/Dias we will struggle.

4 -Get two left backs

5. Rodri coming back wont solve the problems of this team

6. No creativty outwide - I asked where did Marmoush fit in if Haaland is playing - he aint a winger - neither is Bobb

Chickens are coming home to roost
