Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Watching Liverpool vs Arsenal and I'm coming to the conclusion that the level of the league this year is going to be pretty poor. Both these sides look effective but average.

Where are the truly great players?
Irrelevant and divisonary

We are by frar worse than these two - we arent even at present competing with either of them....We are mid table at very best in current form and playing style

Standard reply to someone in here stating the absolute obvious.
No. A reply to someone who has no idea who to replace our current manager with, but demands he is sacked nonetheless.

A reply to someone who the last few days has posted very suspect posts about our club.

A reply to someone who has openly said Pep is a cheque book manager, something you’d expect to read on RAWK or rag cafe.

A reply to someone like that.

We are still everyone cup final spuds last and Brighton this week. The way the Brighton keeper celebrated the winner was like Hart after the Agueroooooooo goal.
I guess it shows how big City have become when rivals celebrated 3 points as if a cup final.

In the past we had players that could play in cup finals week in week out. We dont have that at the minute

I must admit this one has really got to me today. We're miles off and I think we'll have to come to terms with a few things - we're going to have to move on from Pep which is going to be difficult and replacing him will be nigh on impossible - we've seen what some of the replacement players have been like, replacing our greatest ever coach is going to be more difficult by orders of magnitude

Things move on fast in football, and City should not that better than anybody else
The truth is, what more can Pep win and do at City because he's done the lot and done it again

The legacy he will leave will never be matched, and i even think all the old school City understand that
But leaving him as boss and making him work with this crap sqaud is hurting his legacy day by day

Pep needs to understand that this brand of football only goes as far as the players can take it. A couple not quite up to it and it falls apart and you will lose to more physical energetic sides.

He said in his press conference that he will not change his ideology, I think most are aware of this by now. Let's hope we improve as a team during the season. With games coming up we are very likely to be playing catch up for top 4.

As stated earlier we have had a 15 year run at the top table and won the lot. It was absolutely ace.

But it's done. Over. Finito.

Far too many in power at the club - the manager very much being one of them - have got far too comfy and standards have been allowed to slide. We've added 1 class player - Gvardiol - in the last 5 transfer windows. 1!

Can't wait to see the set of criteria for acquiring a ticket next season - they'll be begging people to come back and fill that North Stand having spent the past few years treating the match going fanbase like shite. Remember all that support from the club we got for the conditions and shitshow for fans in Istanbul? No me neither.

We don't know who the no1 Goalkeeper is - this greatly affects how we actually play but we've blundered into the season with 4 of them yet are still apparently buying another one, who also can't play with the ball at his feet.

At full-back we've got 2 blokes from Wolves - one never will be good enough, the other already looks out of his depth.

Centre halves - we've 23 of them but who is the best pairing? Pep doesn't seem to have a clue on that. Stones was on his way out last month - now he's an automatic starter. Dias has dropped off a cliff again now he's dating. Khusanov disappeared for 2 months and has now reappeared.

Midfield wise Rodri stands alone by a mile. The rest are either too old, too flaky or not anywhere the standards we had. Gonzalez seems to always be the scapegoat yet Bernardo is still picked despite his legs looking like they've gone. Reijnders disappears when the going gets tough. He's clearly located that hole Alfie Haaland used to hide in for 90 mins.

Our wingers are tripe. Not a single one could hold a candle to Sane, Sterling or Mahrez. Doku's had 2 seasons - that's 1 too many already. And we turned down £63m for the other duffer who contributed 1 goal and can't cross a road. Palmer was sold - Oscar Bobb was retained......that frankly doesn't look like the correct call and that's being kind.

Up top Haaland must shake his head at those providing service. Marmoush has shown flashes
of brilliance. He's also shown flashes of complete unawareness of what's around him on the pitch & fluffed his big moment at Wembley, for which I doubt I'll ever forgive him for.

Meanwhile Pep looks on and continually exclaims how happy he is with his squad. If you wanted a guide to self-managed decline, since summer 2023 we've written the book on it.
If I could be bothered, this is exactly the post id have written.

Spot on.

Going to take years to unravel.

I think your post has won the day. If there's anything to be won from today.

Our wingers are rubbish. No production.

Last year, everyone blamed Gundogan for our bobbins midfield. But that second goal, Brighton had 4 players up the pitch and only Dias and Ait Nouri were holding the line against 4 Brighton players when Stones got pulled to the right.

My issue is that we do not adjust. With 7 minutes to go we simply showed no urgency to try and get level. There is no 5th gear for this team and its probably because we simply do not know how to recover. There doesn't seem to be any belief anymore.

Another one who will never reach the heights of Sterling and Sane.

Call it knee jerk, call it negative.

I'll call it how I see it.

He's bobbins.
Young lad had an average game by his standards and now he’s bobbins, fucking ‘ell and btw Doku, Sav, Marmoush, aren’t shit, they are counter attacking players being played in the wrong system, Pep shouldn’t of bought them but they aren’t shit.

I’ve said it before but I seriously reckon there has been a change of mentality at board level. They’ve won the Champions League/Treble, job done. There’s every chance City could just be a money earner now, the majority of the recent transfer windows have reflected just that. Occasional spending a bit to keep everyone happy at the time.

Don't forget the £500million on the new stand
