Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Just seen Brighton's second goal again and Dias jogging back is an absolute disgrace. I wouldn't mind, it wasn't like he played the whole game and he was tired. If that is what you call a leader then we are fucked. Too busy pulling his shorts up his fucking crack on corners than actual defending.
I'm fucking furious with him. Kusanov done more in that game than Dias in all 3 games and that isn't a joke.

If you want to remember peps success watch premier ship years and he will lauded in tears but right now he is done af city and if we carry on like this it will be mid table and that is not acceptable for us . If he was to tell the truth he would admit he’s done aswell .
I used to be a pretty good darts, pool and football player, now I’m an old **** and shit at all three. Some can’t accept Pep is yesterday’s man.

If another manager comes in and sees this City squad of players, he will think what the fuck has been happening

I had a few old match of the days recorded from a few years ago and this week had a bit of free time to watch them. Wow where has our free flowing, quick passing and chasing everything to win the ball back gone so quickly. In stark contrast to todays dull, insipid lack of urgency performance. A team has to run for everything, pep said it years ago if your teammate runs for you then the next player will do it and so on.

Also alarming today and last week was our desire to want everything. A perfect example was Reijnders header at the end of the game that was a clear corner to us after a deflection. He just looked surprised it wasn't given and nobody was having a go at the referee to claim it. We are way too passive and nice as a team. Where have our so called dark arts gone. Inwatched Richarlison push Dias about a dozen times last week and not once did Dias or anybody else got in his face and give it back. We are currently soft and a bit of a shithouse team if im honest.
Pep signs nice guys, everyone else gets huge advantages over us by conning the refs at every opportunity, whilst we look on bemused

There was a similar initial criticism re Otamendi. He'd be on the floor and out of the game with each tackle. It disappeared eventually and he stayed on his feet but if it has been part of Khus's game upto now it'll be summat that takes time to eliminate.
And Zabaletta if I remember correctly

This from Guardian comments sums it up perfectly:

“ManCity bench definitely not all that. Used to be they had subs who'd make you flinch when you saw them come in against your team. Now pretty ho-hum. They've got some injured players to be sure but personnel recruitment/replacement over the past 5 or so years has been unable to match the outstanding transfer success rate after they got rid of the imbecile from Nike (Greg Cook?) and brought in manager and suits above who had a clue. Kompany, Silva (and later Bernardo), Aguero, deBruyne were all 10/10 and a bunch of the rest were 8s and 9s. Nothing close to that more recently other than Haaland.”

Absolutely spot on.

I know you’re being sarcastic but what do you suggest happens ?

We fire Pep and replace him with whomever our fans think is better than him. There must be many candidates.

United won 1 from 5 titles between 2002 and 2006, and failed to win the title in 3 consecutive seasons. Did they replace Ferguson, who at the time was older than Pep? No, they gave him time to build another good United team, perhaps their best in the PL era.

Nobody knows what will happen this or next season, but Pep deserves respect and support. Anything less is unacceptable.

We have a week to prepare tactically and physically and yet we look tactically clueless when the opposition put it on us and the whole team are playing walking football after an hour

completely disagree. He is not good on the ball , can be rash and is not got the same positional sense as the rest of the defenders
Agree to disagree - not sure what he did wrong on the ball today. The fact that Rodri was happy to give the ball to him time and again, means that he thinks he's ok

How the fuck can we sign 4 players in 12 hours without making matters worse. We have made our bed and have no option but to lie on it. I think we will be better in the New Year but are unlikely to win anything. Three elite players needed next summer to start making us competitive again.

I think the damage to this squad is a major problem for this season, and things will get a lot worse because Pep is untouchable or DARE you question him

Pep was criticised widely on here last season for over reliance on the old guard. This "over reliance" delivered 3rd place, a cup final and CL qualification.

Kova/KDB/Gundo - the slow, old, past their best, sideways passing Uncs, at least left everything on the pitch. Everyone a leader. This lot today were passive, disorganised, arrogant, lazy and let every single away fan down.

I'd take Europa right now.

I'd take 40 points right now infact i bite your hand off for 40 points

I thought we'd looked fine at the back until Khusanov got booked.
sort of agree. Khusonov going off we fell apart but we didnt look fine really at any point

RAN was a disgrace today - so apathetic and sloppy it was untrue...one of the worst performances Ive seen in a seasoned pro since we watched Phillips.
Trafford was mostly good BUT there was indecision and poor choice of passing again - at one point Stones gave him a right bollocking for making the wrong pass to him and putting him under unnecessary pressure
Nunes looked about what you would expect....he did ok but he is really poor when making a clearance.

Our build up from the back was shit. poor passes putting us under pressure, not passing through the lines

Simply not good enough.. The midfield really isnt helping. Reijnders is doing nothing - he is AWOL now for 2 games especially defensively and the wide players are not helping out...look at the work of the brighton wide player today on their right hand side.....back making aggressive tackles in his own half.....did you see Bobb or Marmoush do this...do any of our wide players do this...

We are just so passive and weak (and Im talking physically here)...outfought in all departments...the only one who looks physically up for the challenge is Khusonov and Rodri
