I'm starting to have serious questions about the medical staff and the physical preparation, too many injuries in the last two years, even among new players

If Cherki out expect us to go back to the shape of the first game with a midfield 3 of Bernie, Reijnders and Nico G.

Not a bad thing as we didn’t look great with a proper 10 last time, something to work on for sure.

What I’d like to see:-

Ederson
Khusanov Dias Gvardiol
Nunes Ait-Nouri
Rodri Silva
Reijnders
Foden Haaland

Three at the back. Pace and physicality in the team.

What I think we’ll get:-

Trafford
Lewis Stones Dias Ake
Gonzalez
Reijnders Silva
Doku Haaland Marmoush

I think Foden and Gvardiol are out anyway. Not sure if Rodri is ready to start a game.

I suspect we may see the same 11 as against Wolves, though I'd be tempted to bring in Nunes for Lewis.

Is that the excuse is it

Not entirely sure what you are getting at, but I'd fully expect a player moving from a less intense league, to a more intense one to experience niggles, initially. Particularly when there are increased expectations regarding pressing under the two Peps.

So, Gvardiol still out, Cherki now injured and Phil has a knock from last week? What is wrong with Gvardiol? We had a terrible injury record last season and it seems we are already up & (not) running this season.

A very fair point.

How the fuck is he injured already?
there has to be something wrong with the way we operate, our rate of injury is not normal
I wonder if it’s it’s more we have the squad size so no reason to push people back - especially this early in the season. Like if this was last year with a smaller squad, maybe these players would at least be on the bench. Also, no reporters ever seem to ask about injuries so we never really know what’s going on!!

Stones, Aké & Kovacic are injury prone. Akanji & Dias both got niggles, played through for a bit/returned early to help and exacerbated the injuries. Gvardiol was absolutely ran into the ground last year, like Rodri had been, so it felt like when he was going to be injured, rather than if.

I'm hoping that with more players in the squad that Pep will trust to play (new additions, plus Nunes/O'Reilly/Bobb etc), we won't be in a similar position to last year.

Injuries already and the international break coming up .............

Ederson
Khusanov
Stones
Dias
Ait Nouri
Rodri
Foden
Reijnders
Marmoush
Doku
Haaland

So we have Kovacic, Gvardiol, Savinho, Foden, Cherki on the injured list.
Given that none of the usual suspects are injured yet, it might be wise to think that having 5 out on match day is the new normal when players are overplayed.

So having a small squad of 23 or whatever Pep wants is going to lead to problems . Luckily as it stands there are 29, if we can shift Ortega and a couple of others 26 would be better.

I think this is a quite possible lineup.
It is similar to mine with the difference of Bernardo to O'Reilly, which I think is likely, and you have chosen Nunes over Lewis.
It's wishful thinking on my part, I doubt Pep will use Khusanov in particular, but here is hoping. I think O'Reilly would do well in the middle for us as well, but I don't think Pep will play him either.

I think O'Reilly has the potential to be a good physical balance for us. Let's see.
