Brighton seem even more special than Leicester 2015/2016

Leicester should have invested in qualifying for Champions League (came 5th in 2020 and 2021) and recruitment rather than continually selling their best players (Kante, Mahrez, Maguire, Chilwell, Fofana). They're paying the price now. Looks like Brighton are taking that route, starting with Cucurella.

Leicester messed up by not having the replacements in house before taking the money, then splurged big fees on lesser replacements.

Brighton have all their replacements signed already (Caicedo replacement aside).

They didn’t have the money. They were in debt to a number of companies (they missed a few payments) and had the second highest wage-bill:revenue in the league.

Caicedo is world class
He’s nowhere near that yet. He’s just a decent young player with potential at this point.

What he has shown though is much better quality than I’ve seen from Bellingham against good opposition midfields. The City and Arsenal performances this season have been excellent from the lad. I’ve not seen Bellingham play as well against any good midfields yet.

But Caicedo is not world class just yet.

Easier said then done. The problem is the players have ambitions and want to win trophies and earn ridiculous wages that clubs are willing to pay for them.

Even if Leicester could keep them. They would still want out and it's pressuring if they had contracts that are close to a end.

Brighton will start to have the same problems as Southampton and Leicester have done so the only way to stay on top is they keep developing players quicker to replace the best players that have gone to City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle.

As I said, qualifying for Champions League would have helped greatly in that respect. It would have also made the recruitment a lot better than the average recruits of last two summers.

I didn’t know until I spoke to a few Brighton fans the other night who explained that a lot of the success of the players and current manager are from a link club they have established.

If they had a top quality forward they would be pushing even further up the league.
