Trevor and the club will probably kill me for this, but I like to be honest and upfront with people, so people know what went into trialing the megaphone.
The discussions with the club went a bit like this. There was more to it, but.....
As I’ve stated, the discussions went on for months.
The club originally agreed to the megaphone.
I trialled it in the empty stadium. We were ready to go.
Everything was agreed.
Then it was pulled.
1894 talked to the club again.
The club eventually agreed to the megaphone, but with conditions. No abusive language, a cut off button, and I wasn’t to stand close to the away fans with the megaphone in block 115. Agreed.
The club wanted me stand at the back of the SS In-between blocks 115-116. After a lot of thought, I didn’t want to do that. Why? It was under the overhang, which would have amplified the megaphone, making it too loud for those fans close to me, the sound wouldn’t carry, due to the concrete overhang, and tbh, I didn’t want to be isolated, stood on my own, and away from the other 1894 lads at the bottom of the SS.
So, after further discussions with the club, 1894 made a compromise with the club. If the club would let us stand at the front of of the SS, we would move further over to block 116, and further away from the away fans. The club agreed.

The club have always been very supportive of 1894 and with our attempts to improve the atmosphere at the Etihad. The club ‘want to improve that atmosphere at the Etihad’, and they are trying to do that alongside 1894.

I was in 110 as usual tonight and the atmosphere was shite. Surrounded by apathetic blues and tourists who haven't got a clue, only interested in selfies and recording the game on their phones. Two tourist teenage girls in front of me arrived 26 minutes after the start and were on their phones for ten minutes before before they realised they were at a football match.
Two tourists at the side of me pissed off on 55 minutes. I really don't know why they came as one of them was sat down most of the first half.
As for the megaphone and drum, wasn't coming across loud enough, drowned out by about 120 Shakhtar fans in between.
Really poor performance on the pitch and our players were obviously not inspired by a very lacklustre atmosphere. I'm not in favour of needing to use a megaphone and a drum but fair play to those who tried to get some noise going. All in all very underwhelming night on and off the pitch, and the atmosphere was almost as flat as Holland: /

Ok, what exactly are you trying to do? Silence rather than a few people trying to create an atmosphere at our home game? Join in or leave them be.

Could hear the megaphone in 230. Fair play for trying it, but it didn’t seem right to me.
if you do persevere, might I recommend starting the Hey Jude song in a lower key as it seemed to get a little high for your vocal range. ;-)

We have loads of misserable twats on here who will slate the drum and megaphone but they are probably stay at home tossers or sit silently for 90 mins so ignore them and keep striving to better the atmosphere because it needs improving.
The 1894 group etc are doing a magnificent job, the flags, banners, singing section etc. I applaud everything they are doing and have done. I even applaud their attempt to experiment with the drum and megaphone, if it's not trialled then how will they know what response it provokes, both good and bad.
However, I think the drum in particular kills any atmosphere and is just not "City". The megaphone is slightly different, as we know in European grounds it is tediously used throughout the game. If it could be used now and again to gee up the crowd when things get a bit stale then it may have a small place. When the lad spoke into it and faced the pitch I couldn't hear it but when he faced the stand it was quite loud. I was surprised to see a couple of young people on the second tier join into the Guardiola song.
But please, ditch the drum!
