Bring the Noise

yes Southampton at home perfect example. It can be done.

Noticed jrb you mentioned palace relocated, I did see on tv that they had around 500 singers in one block and one capo running the songs. He didn't have a megaphone, probably cant afford one ! Joking apart they sounded good and carried on their songs longer, its not rocket science and we know what it takes.

Just as everybody has taken paracetamol now calmed down from the drum, how would fans feel if at the end of this season two thirds of 115 was cleared and made a clean slate. All fans that wanted to go in the area ( or stay in there ) had to re apply in some sort of organised way to guarantee all are season card holders and singers. Before everybody calls me a c*** any singers and hard core city fans already in 115 like us lot would be guaranteed a place. We would go through this exercise purely to move out non singers and day trippers. Day trippers out and singers in SS3 / Kippax and any other areas could move in.

This has never been mentioned before, but as a starting point what are the thoughts or can somebody come up with a different plan ?

I think we all know what it takes, rather than going round in circles lets have a new plan.

500-1,000 dedicated singers all grouped together and and sticking with it is what is required. If it is more so much the better. I am in 119 and we have a fair few of us sing and participate here. A few where I am, a group at the back and some to my left. We still have too many lifeless people sprinkled amongst us though. There are a couple of young women in the same seats in front who fetch books to the game. One was like a notepad/exercise book and she was writing in it one game, no idea what that was all about! Probably turn into a book about how sexism still exists at football games or something in a few years time lol.

A good effort from the 1894 lads, at least they are trying - but over in 115 and on the same row as the megaphone & drum, I simply didn't hear what they were singing. I didn't even hear the megaphone until some lads in front of me started shouting towards it.

I sing (badly) every game - some around me sing sporadically and others around me rarely sing, some of them never....I don't think a megaphone/drum or even Tesco vouchers would get those people singing - I oft wonder why some of them moved to the "singing section" during the rejig of seats a few years back.

As most of you will know in Europe the Capo is normally on a platform or on and elevated ledge facing the fans. That is how the chant is carried to the fans.

That isn’t happening over here due to H@S regulations, ground regulations, etc.

So the alternatives are front, back, or middle of the block. Ideally the middle would be perfect, but seats are already taken. The back is worth a go, but not under the overhang. And standing in and round the disabled section isn’t allowed. The only leaves the front, where we stood last night.

Hopefully if the megaphone is used again, and 1894 continue to be sensible with it, and continue to use the megaphone correctly, as the club have requested, in time, the club may allow 1894 and the megaphone to move over to block 115, but to have the megaphone located at the front left corner of 115, facing the pitch, closer to, and at the bottom of the official 115 singing block?

If the NS doesn’t get expanded or it’s put on hold, then they only way the atmosphere will improve is if safe standing is brought in and SSL1 is made safe standing. The club will have to reconfigure the seats, and that gives the club an opportunity to create a proper singing section. Fans will have to apply for new seats, as their old ones will no longer exist. This gives the club, 1894, and fans who want to sing an opportunity to create, and to be part of a genuine and new singing section in SSL1.
