Bring the Noise

I know this isn’t really the a Chants page but how about this really simple.

To the tune of oasis morning glory

weeeeelllll whats the story city glory
Need a little time to wake up wake up
And just repeat

just a quick note on 'crowd noise' in general, songs last for a few minutes, seem always to be in a rush to be finished , chants also. The orchestrated continental stadium style does not look like ever being popular over here, drummers less popular than admission rises. The loudest recorded sports fans are in Seattle, at one time in the old Kingdome, the team was penalised for excessive crowd noise, but they dont have songs at all, just uproar, a bit like when we score a late winner. Cheering and booing are easy enough to join in and can be addictive/fun. Given the demographic at the Etihad (ageing crowd) the great work done by those who try their best to generate a better atmosphere might be limited, sadly. Hope not.

No reason why we cant for the first 10 or 15 minutes boo like mad and whistle when the opposition have the ball, cheer like mad when we win a tackle. This would probably lift our team and unsettle opposition more than anything. Not seen this done at a good level much at all apart from Liverpool at home.

Also works well on away fans, when away fans try sing, boo and whistle again. I went to spurs away in the CL when they opened their new stadium, every time we tried to sing spurs fans whistled like mad, so the city fans gave up !!

Not hard for fans around the ground to boo or whistle, dam sight easier than singing. If we played a Turkish team away in the CL imagine the booing they would do, players go over there knowing its going to be hostile.

The rags gave out free tickets yesterday for “atmosphere testing”. That’s at home to Newcastle on Boxing Day. The state of football lol.

Watched the Leicester v Liverpool match last night.

Hard watch.

Just as hard is having to admit the Scousers have got some great and original new chants.

Gone are the days of just Liverpool, Liverpool and YNWA.

Winning cups and having a successful team has really spurred their support on to come up with new and original chants, not only for the club, but for the players. Just like it did when we started to become successful. Dzeko, De Jong, Yaya, etc.(the players below)

They’ve already made up a World Champions chant. Which TBF is a bit naff. But it bangs home the point.

They’ve even got a chant for sach for their full backs. Have we got a chant for any of our full backs?

Like United, Liverpool seem to be pretty well organised when it comes to making up new chants. Do they have a group that comes up with chants and brings them on to the KOP or to their Boss nights? People might say that’s contrived, like Boyle at the Bishop’s Blaize for United, but once a chant catches on, regardless of where it’s started, that’s all that matters.

In comparison we’re still waiting for the odd gem to be sung on an away concourse. Apart from that we’re stuck with our old and usual chants, which are slowly disappearing as our successful players and teams come to the end of their time at City. Kompany, Zab, D.Silva, Fern, Sergio, etc.

On a plus note, neither United nor Liverpool fans have a better chant for Ole or Klopp than we have for Pep.

But we need to start coming up with new chants. We can’t keep on relying on old (player) chants that are no longer relevant to the current team.

you are going to get some flack for that I guess Jrb, but well said. Some of the things might sound a bit harsh but cant beat passion for wanting a good atmosphere.

If we took note and listened to a few things in that post, plus as "racecar" said club needs to do more ( but I mean club from the very top not the good guys 1894 speak to ) then we will make more noise.

Squidward knows the score to, good post there also.

merry xmas to you to jrb, enjoy your mince pie and sherry !

You know more than anyone else, Trev.

You know who and where the obstacles are at City. :-(

Unfortunately they are stuck in their ways with more pressing priorities than the atmosphere at the Etihad.

Pulling the NS derby display really did me. After that and the night itself, I’m pretty much done. I will always help out, support 1894, and be there, but I don’t feel as committed as I used to be because I’m not seeing that kind of commitment from the people running the club.

UntilI I see that commitment, concrete moves and assurances from those at the top of club, I honestly don’t believe they want what the good guys at City and the fans want.

Hope you had a great Christmas? See you at the back of 115 on Sunday.

Just on the way back from wolves. They were quiet for a bit but it makes a massive fucking difference having a whole stand together who sing. City need to sort it out
