Bring the Noise

Got you. So it ends up with effectively half in there. To be clear, this isn’t baiting at all, I’m genuinely interested and no little surprised. I’d been reading this thread for a while before registering and the set up of the ground sounded mental. Psychedelic Casual wrote a great post the other day about it, explained it perfectly.
Re: the cheap tickets thing, do the club not police that more if it’s open to fudging? We had a similar problem with a section that offered £9 tickets but a lot were being passed on for well over the odds. The club keep a much closer eye on them now though to be fair.
I can tell you’re not here to wind us up. Good to see from a United or Liverpool fan for once!

One thing we don’t have, that you lot do, is a fans group who will stand up for the fans and are consulted about things or at least considered on decisions, or who relay fans’ wants and needs to the club.

I can’t remember the name of yours (is it the Spirit of Shankly group?).

We do have an Official Supporters Club with 240 branches, but they sort of serve their own individual branch purposes rather than the fan base as a whole. And we also have a City Matters group of reps but I’m not sure they’re the same sort of thing as the Liverpool fans group, not even sure they meet as a panel or with further reps from the various groups of fans, and I’m not sure how seriously the club takes them.

Nice one, mate, this is the sort of chat I was here for. Silly fucking tit for tats are for the playground.

I wasn’t sure what the score was with a fan group as such, I’d read that Trevor somebody was coordinating something on here but wasn’t sure if the club were part of it or not. SOS is fucking brilliant, I’ve been a member from the start and went to the inaugural meeting in the Sandon (boozer by Anfield) at the height of Gillette & Hicks. The club used to be wary of them because they were terrified about how quickly and early they seemed to mobilise support on and offline. They soon realised that it was far better to bring them into the fold but at arms length. That said, they’ve had input into most big decisions in the club in the FSG era. They’ve had many successes since not just with the football club but the area as a whole. There’s loads of other teams groups they work with closely too, United and Everton included. There’s no real tribalism there, ordinary fans with the same ordinary and extraordinary problems. One thing is for certain, if you’re a Liverpool fan and you’ve got a grievance about the match ie tickets not turning up, piss take decisions by the club etc, those lads and girls will have your back all the way.

Hi mate, I’ve seen you’re one of the main contributors to this thread, have the club ever mentioned any kind of biometric entrance facility? There’s been talk for a while about some kind of photo/fingerprint trial being implemented at our gaff, but the resulting noise usually makes it go away. Hearing whispers of it again in a post Covid football environment, just wondered if anything similar over there?
This is only in relation to STH, not general sale.

hi mate, did hear a mention of this but it wasn't from the club directly. Ive heard very little about it. Sorry to be a little vague

Ah nice one, mate. It’s much the same with us, but if ones does it, they’ll all do it. That’d probably do it for me to be honest, it’s a football match for fucks sake, not an identity line up.

We have a family stand where you can purchase an adult and child ticket together. Unfortunately many just purchase the two because it’s cheap seats. The family stand is where you will get the most empty seats and because it’s behind the goal it’s very visible for TV baiters. I find it embarrassing.
Or it’s for families like me and my 2 kids, who attend every game, and aren’t embarrassing (well actually my kids say I am, but that’s another story)

Don’t know if I’m reading this right here, but is there a specific kids (U16s?) section at the Etihad? Is that for them alone or is it more a dad and lad section thing? I only ask because a section of youth is guaranteed noise and a great way to keep fan continuity. No chance of that at our place - ours is the only ground in the UK where you can’t enter unless you’re 16 or over or with an accompanying adult. They say it’s for safety, but it’s a load of shit. Just another way to try and squeeze out local kids who won’t buy tat from the shop to get Tarquin from Dorking in so he can buy the 3rd away kit. Modern football, I suppose.

odd cup games / CL games over the last 12 months the club have organised a block to encourage under 16's to group and make noise. I don't think it took off all to well and was at the opposite end of the stadium to where most the noise comes from. There is quite a big problem at the stadium, most noisy fans being spread about across three sections, between us we have away fans and a corporate tier / section. Its getting better, some would argue, eventually we will get in the same end. Meanwhile we prepare for that day.

I was saying to PC the other day I can’t believe there isn’t a designated end/section like the Kop for example. I can get how tiers & the like can be an obstacle, but it seems as if the club are being almost deliberate to an outsider. Of course they have their corporate mission like all other top clubs however they usually have their main home support front and centre in the marketing. Clearly, they’re doing something right, but it just seems they’re missing an absolute tap in with presumably a lot of people desperate for it to happen. Madness.

They sound like the sort of group they should be. Like a Trade Union for fans.

yes its crazy how our stadium has ended up a miss match with sections all over. Probably down to trying to suit to many bands of supporters and throwing corporate areas in where ever had room for it. We are battling against to many chiefs to get it exactly right. Having said that we have some great contacts at the club who are just as much up for a good atmosphere and singing end as us so this helps. It has also got to the point where a lot of fans have got stuck in the seats they have sat in for the last 9 or 10 years and don't really want to move.

Typical is the mention of safestand, fans and the club are all debating where it should go. We have had the discussion for 2 or 3 seasons about the north stand expansion, this is perfect for a singing end and safestand. But some fans say they want to be near the away section for banter or we should have safestand in tier three south stand. I guess when the safestand comes in at your place it will go in the kop end without a doubt. Certainly makes planning a lot easier this way
