Britain's most poisonous spider is on the increase

In the apartment we were in before we just moved, we had 4 wolf spiders find their way in over the course of the 6 months we were there. Normally I'm not too arsed about spiders and these things arent that poisonous but they jump and they are fast. as. fuck.

Last night watching tv I noticed a spider climbing the curtains so picked it up to throw it out of the window, and it bit me. Never known this before so googled spider bites. Some doubted they bite, but I can vouch for the fact they do, or this one in particular does. Finger still intact this morning so hopefully not poisonous.

It's venomous, ffs!.

Poisonous = Ingested
Venomous = Injected

Don't go around eating any poisonous spiders and you should be fine.

The same happened to me about 10 years back. The house where I lived always had spiders, so I'd got use to just picking them up and throwing them outside. Until one day when I was clearing out the utility room. An enormous spider appeared so I just grabbed it to throw, but when I threw it didn't go anywhere. Just hung from my finger by its fangs. Nowadays if I see a big spider I use the glass & card technique. I don't mind the little ones, just the ones with wellie boots on.

Hmm. Big spiders is the one thing I'm not looking forward to on return to the UK. Anyone know if there are less spiders in houses with wooden flooring rather than carpet?

Leave conkers in the corners of the rooms: spiders don't like them.
Do the spiders migrate to the middle of the room, or just disappear?
