British gas behaviour

They are taking vans from the engineers now it’s a disgusting that they have been allowed to get this far , this O’Shea should of been called in by the centrica board ages ago .
It’s not just the 15% pay cuts it’s also overtime and mandatory working weekends as well.
Corporate bullying at its very finest.
The GMB have asked many many times for rational thinking but there adamant in what they want to do this despite many thousands of customers waiting for engineers . BG have blood on their hands. Disgusting way to treat a loyal skilled worker.

Despicable

Suprised we haven't discussed this yet but a fucking disgrace by British Gas and the fact it is being marginalised by the press, public and TUC to secondarry news shoupd worry us all.

Fire and rehire if goes unchecked will grow in this country until we are all working for fuck all

I raised this as an issue on the Brexit and also the Covid thread as i signalled it as the beginning of '' the bonfire of workers rights '' after our exit from the Eu. This was obviously poo pood by the Unicorn herders as nonsense.

Youre right ... its a f@cking disgrace and shouldn't be allowed.

They have already cancelled boiler instalments and new home service contracts as they will not have the number of engineers needed to supply the customer needs.

If ever a business has cut off it's nose etc it is this move, under most capatist thinking a business model as this would be consodered stupid.

its not about growing a company its about managing its decline by stretching out that decline so those in charge can maximise their own incomes and pensions.

What would BG's detractors suggest they do?
They are in a terrible mess, losing money hand over fist due, largely, to massively increased competition.
Plus gas is rapidly becoming yesterday's source of energy.
In short, the company is dying. Upon its demise all its employees become unemployed, the measures they have promoted are intended to breathe a little life back into it - giving it time to pivot?
Clearly, there has been some terrible negotiations at play (on both sides) but they can't let things go.
AKA bleeding it dry.

I'm not sure that the best way to breathe life back into a company is to radically undermine the workforce it wholly relies upon to deliver its's service.

It could have engaged in meaningful consultation with unions and workforce to indentify solutions and might have looked tom for instance, a VS scheme or some form of compensation scheme for staff having to work to a new contract,

Perhaps if BG invested more in improving the product they would have a bigger market.

It certainly seems they lacked some decent HR advice - any ideas where they could hvae gote better advice from? :)
I'm staggered they have performed so poorly in this regard, surely they could afford the best advice available?
They have lost over 3 million customers, Centrica (parent), has lost more than three-quarters of its market value in the last five years. this is one sick company.
It's not so much product improvement needed as a complete change of offerings

Capitalism once again failing in a natural monopoly. Who would have thought that.

Norway built a state on their gas, we gave ours to capitalists to make money. And people still moan about nationalisation. Capitalists make money by exploiting a workers surplus value, Centrica have gone even further and want more of their workers surplus value, the greedy cunts. I hope the company goes bust for how they have treated their workforce.

Well they didn't ask me and they didn't ask you so clearly they can't. :) :)

Ever watch State of Happiness?

A great series and a real insight into how the Norwegians managed the oil.

Centrica's decision, and the lack of political pushback opens the door to for other industries to the same to specialist roles who rightly deserve their salary more than the greedy cunts profiteering of their skilled work.
