The British Lions squad is set to be announced on 8th May. Ten games in total with the first test against Wallabies on 19th July.

For a bit of fun and discussion this would be my 23 man squad for the first test.

15. Kinghorn (Scotland)
14. Van Der Merwe (Scotland)
13. Ringrose (Ireland)
12. Lawrence (England)
11. Lowe (Ireland)
10. Russell (Scotland)
9. Gibson-Park (Ireland)
1.Porter (Ireland)
2. Sheehan (Ireland)
3.Fargerson (Scotland)
4. Itoje (England)
5. Beirne (Ireland)
6. Earls (England)
7. Curry (England)
8. Dorris (Ireland)

Bench
Hanson (Ireland)
Prendergast (Ireland)
Mitchell (England)
Genge (England)
Cowan-Dickie (England)
Stuart (England)

Let's be honest no matter what players they go with the Aussie team are not a major force. The number 10 so many options. I don't think Pendergast goes. It will be Russell but my wildcard is Owen Farrell added as a 10 and maybe a starting 10. Fullback again great options. The pack too the options Dorris to be captain I would of said earlier this year but he wasn't great in the 6 nations.

Were you dry bummed by a Dragon when you younger FFS ;-)
Fair team that love that back row.
Not a big Russell fan blows hot and cold ( in the same game ) for me. Ford after the other night was outstanding.
Jac Morgan should be the only Welsh representative and thats on merit not sentiment.

Sir fucking Clive has throw his tour team into the ring , obviously to help Faz out ;-)
He must have been on the crack pipe as he has 2 Welsh players in his squad :-)

Lawrence is unlikely to be fit from what I've read.

Well I've always liked Farrell as said in other threads met him loads of times great guy, but he can fuck right off 2 Welsh players ffs and not picked his lad what a c**t ( in coming divorce there )
So come on PJ you're thoughts.
Joking apart fair reflection from the 6 nations, a few I feel for especially the lads who picked up knocks.

Yes I had Lawrence and Doris in my team but both injured.
Two Welsh in the squad is a fair reflection on how shite the country is atm.
It’s one hell of a squad which I feel could be wasted on the Aussies. Shame it’s not the Saffers or All blacks really.

Para1 agree
Para 2 fucking hurts ;-)
Para 3 agree if para 1 were fit :-)
In fairness a good Lions selection.

are the backs from 11-15 all giants? It would be nice if there had been a place for someone who isn't.
Agree, some of Rugby Union's greatest players were not the biggest.
Recently, for the 11-15 positions, can only think of Shane Williams as being of smaller stature.
The introduction of the Rugby League style of defence has made it harder for the smaller attackers.
Ironic that Andy Farrell & Shaun Edwards have now become so successful and influential in Rugby Union.

Halfpenny wasn't big either.

France/Italy seem to like a non-giant back, South African wings aren't tall.

I think the difference isn't just down to RL influence, but also the changes to the laws that make it better to play without the ball and play for turnovers. Then players are picked to suit that.

Smith at full back? He's a better player than many, but he gets run around, over and past.

Come to watch the Europeans show their superiority over the South Americans after Chelsea's wank performance.... Oh wait what's going on here?
