Bruce Springsteen fans?

Been a fan for many years, preferring his earlier stuff. Seen him half a dozen times from '85 to '03 and he really does know how to deliver to a full stadium. Ticket prices are the reason I quit large stadium gigs several years ago. Doubt I will be forking out for this tour.

Went to see Coldplay then Bruce within a few weeks of each other last time round at our place. Coldplay put on a marvellous stadium show, no expense spared, stage set, inflatables, 3 stages, confetti, luminous wristbands, lasers, fireworks, you name it. And about 90 mins of decent tunes, with a sound that sounded like about 7 musicians with only 4 on stage. And it was warm.

Bruce no ticket money spent on the show at all - absolute minimum, but played over 3 hours of stone cold classics. And it poured down.

Not saying one was better than the other, just different, enjoyed both.

Bruce doing The River double album in full isnt he? Would rather he did Darkness or Born in USA like that personally

Not seen Coldplay yet but going to one of their Wembley shows. Seen Bruce several times since 1985, including that downpour at the Etihad. Saw him a few years back at the Emirates and went along thinking it would be the last time I would bother seeing him but he was so good that I bothered to go to Hyde Park, The Etihad and Wembley. May have to go again if he is touring this year.

The NEC wasn't the best venue for a band like Steely Dan. Springsteen was staggeringly good at the Apollo but lost something when I saw him at the NEC a few days later. One of the best gigs I ever saw was Nils Lofgren at Rockworld on Oxford St when he was doing a warm-up for a tour. People stood up, in a smoky cellar and you could virtually touch him. Brilliant.

One of the worst headliners I have seen was Lofgren at the Apollo, the support act totally and utterly blew him away. Do like Nils with Bruce though.

Any ideas when official announcement will be made for tickets at City?

There are some European dates on his website flagged as new so would think more are about to be announced. He's in Dublin on 27 May so 25 May at Etihad seems possible.

The current tour is called the River tour I believe and he has just released and expanded anniversary edition of that album, hasn't he? Presume he is playing most or all of the album. Will go and check out some set lists.

Yup, he is playing about 33 songs each night at the moment, including, from recollection, all of the River.

Nothing wrong with Bruce seen him a few times good value for money and I'm a fan. Was hoping for Pearl Jam having seen their US tour schedule :-(

A few of you have mentioned the rain at the Etihad in 2012, but that was nothing compared to the torrential downpour when I saw him at the San Siro in 2003. I'll never forget him doing Waiting on a Sunny Day with a massive smile on his face, as the rain bucketed down on him! The downpour, the stadium - the terracing seems incredibly steep from pitch level - and the brilliant music all combined to make it the best gig ever. The Boss at his very best.
