Looking at him in those 'highlights' he appears more of an attacking midfielder than a defensive type.

City are set to sign highly rated young midfielder Bruno Zuculini from Racing Club de Avellaneda, according to reports from Argentina in recent days.

This isn’t a new link, with reports in the winter transfer window claiming that City had signed the 20-year-old, only for the window to shut without the former Argentina U20 international joining the Blues.

Now, several media sources in Argentina, including Olé, are claiming this is a done deal and that the player will join City next June after another season at the club he has spent his entire career at so far.

Racing Club president Víctor Blanco is also quoted as having said “He has been sold and will leave in June”. Blanco did not name his destination, but Olé and others claim to have investigated and discovered it will be City.

If the reported fee is correct, a mere £1.5m, that would seem a coup for one of the best young prospects out of Argentina. Judging by the comments from Racing fans on several articles in Argentina, they are perplexed and angry that such a prospect could be sold for so little. I wonder what sort of 20-year-old talent £1.5m could get you in England?

Zuculini is a tenacious holding midfielder, much like his older brother Franco Zuculini, who had similar hype at a young age but didn’t make a big impression during spells at Hoffenheim, Genoa and Real Zaragoza in Europe.

Bruno Zuculini is said to be an even better prospect than his brother was. After some struggles during his development as a player, Zuculini is now considered by many to be the best defensive midfielder in Argentina’s Primera División.

A pacy and tenacious midfielder, the youngster is a good tackler with strong leadership skills and great stamina, but is also known for his ability to get forward and chip in with vital goals.

At the age of 20, he is considered to have an outside chance of making Alejandro Sabella’s squad for the 2014 World Cup. Sabella was spotted watching he and Racing team-mate Sebastián Saja earlier this year.

But with more experienced and high profile midfielders such as Javier Mascherano (Barcelona), Éver Banega (Valencia) and Lucas Biglia (Lazio) already fighting for a spot in Argentina’s midfield, the World Cup may come too soon.

Zuculini’s transfer to City is not confirmed yet, but the reports seem credible enough to suggest there is something in it. The common issue of getting him a work permit should also be avoided, with Zuculini elgible for an Italian passport

with his physical attributes, sound like young fernandinho

Re: Bruno Zuculini

By the Goal Editor in Argentina, bold bit sounds like a typical Txiki-Ferran signing

Bruno Zuculini played his first game in Argentina's First Division at only 16 in 2010. Following in the footsteps of his brother Franco, Zuculini demo
nstrated in just a few games his ability to move around the pitch, as well as his dynamism.

Even though his natural position is central midfield, he has also played on the flanks and even in defence on occasions. Once he had claimed his place in the starting XI, Bruno also started showing his offensive ability, and scored plenty of goals.

Besides his abilities as a player, Zuculini is also recognised as being a responsible professional. In a team full of young players well known for their frequent visits to different night clubs, Zuculini stayed clear from that group and became the link between the experienced players, the coach and the youngsters.

In other words, if Manchester City splash out just £1.5 million for Zuculini, it will be one of the best bargains of recent years.

Re: Bruno Zuculini

If this is true it would be a very good piece of business, especially with the price, plus with his age only being 20 and being that he plays in midfield, really would like to it see come off...............

Re: Bruno Zuculini

Apparently his contract ends soon, that's why we got him so cheap (if it's true).

There's tons of articles here. I'm using Google translate though, not 100% sure about these quotes.
Article list: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.ole.com.ar/tema/bruno_zuculini.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ole.com.ar/tema/bruno_zuculini.html</a>

Interview with him:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ole.com.ar/racing/sueno_0_1042696089.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ole.com.ar/racing/sueno_0_1042696089.html</a>

"While enjoying your great present in Racing, on the other hand, in the fullness of his love with people, it was confirmed that it is already sold to Manchester City and he must leave the club in June.
"I am very fortunate and my compañeeros help me a lot. Is accompanying me luck, because I'm at the right time, "said after the game."
""It's a dream, do not know what to say. I am really happy. ""

There's also a video there but obviously in Spanish. I think the interviewer says "City" in the beginning?

About the transfer:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ole.com.ar/racing/vendido_0_1042695803.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ole.com.ar/racing/vendido_0_1042695803.html</a>

"Default or neglect, Racing always negotiated the renewal of disadvantaged Bruno Zuculini contract. Was it smart to wait for a 20-year stay you just a little over a year link to sit down and talk seriously about numbers? With the end of the story already written, the answer is a resounding no. "

"Does the figure? Just a close to two million sum. "It is sold, it will in June," the president acknowledged Thursday Victor Blanco. If Bruno is refusing to sign the renewal so spoken, he might have gone now, just finished the championship, leaving no weight gain Racing and paying the last six months of bond that had at the club. That's why the onus is on a board who failed to negotiate a time and took a nap that ended with a devalued best player out of the team was in the championship Mustard Merlo."

Here it says he signed a 4-year contract extension this week, so that Racing could be paid any money at all:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ole.com.ar/racing/Zucu-sello_0_1001299895.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ole.com.ar/racing/Zucu-sello ... 99895.html</a>

"The flyer signed the renewal for another four years, but in July would go to Manchester City.

Amidst the ruthless confrontation between Gaston Cogorno and Rodolfo Molina, with hectic corporate life time since the return to democracy, which until yesterday was a subject of concern to the leaders and was resolved: After long conversations, Bruno Zuculini signed the renewal of his contract for four more years."

"Club officials were anxious to reach an agreement because, otherwise, expire next June the agreement and the player would be free. So the arrangement gave them a glimpse of tranquility between internal political tension so hot.

Anyway, it seems that half Zucu will go next year. Is that a clause in the bond that gives priority to purchase at Manchester City to take him in July 2014 was established. For several months the English club made known their interest in the midfielder and is willing to do a very important job for him."

"if you are going for 2 million is a disaster. I hope this is not true .... for the sake of Racing"

"Maybe it's old news, already wise, you contract expires in June and was not going to renew because they offered a lot more money in Europe, renewed so that it fits silver club. But he could have gone and charge all the (bruno)."

"$ 2 million?????????????? WE ARE ALL CRAZY?"

"Does the figure? Just a close to two million amount. Racing is the worst club selling players or chorean was all man."

"from the sale of 1,700,000 zucu us is us. We continue giving players ..."
