Quite a difference in the figures!

hen I explained I was a football fan, doubt his figures and that I assumed he was a junior member of staff on duty on a Saturday, he replied:

'Ah...now I understand your level expertise.

I do my own email and I don't have an "office boy" as you call it.

The viewing figures come from an independent source but I am guessing that won't make any difference to you.'

How does someone like that get such power in a huge organisation and the wtf is he doing replying to random emails on a Saturday afternoon?

No wonder the output is so poor.

Who said the comment about the independent source (highlighted). Those figures are the official viewing figures used by the industry, they can't be questioned unless you question the whole method used by every station.

It does matter because the false narrative being given out is swallowed hook line and sinker by the hard of thinking supporters of every other team in the country. The myths that have been peddled already by the tabloid press and the likes of Talksport are regurgitated and the onward cycle of doing City down continues.
So whilst the score is the only thing important in one respect the constant belittling of our club shouldn't just be ignored.
Wankers.

The problems is that the baton of these myths are picked up and carried by the quality media and the media. The style and content of the BBC and the former broadsheets had dropped considerably in the last few years, mainly in the football coverage. You cannot imagine the Test Match Special commentators running down specific teams and their individual players in the way Desperate Dan does. Several ex ragsite bloggers are in influential positions at the Independent and Garudniad. It is a dream come true for the likes of Ogden and Jackson to spill out their lifelong hatred of City.

The club seems to do nothing and we get so many fans who say 'it shows we are hurting them'. 'Names will never hurt me' doesn't really apply in the real world.

That was Gavin Patterson CEO of BT. He comes across as a clown in his Wiki entry and worse if you deal with him.

Where did you get that quote from? The 2016 report has this, but it's not claiming 10 million (has a rogue 0 found it's way in somehow?)

"BT Sport’s average daily audience figures, from the start of the football season in August to the end of March, increased 45% year on year. For the same period, we saw 39 match events with peak concurrent viewers of over 1m. And the UEFA Europa League last 16 first leg clash between Liverpool and Manchester United generated a peak of more than 2m viewers, the first time we’ve hit this milestone."

I got in one Saturday lunchtime and with the post was yet another piece of junk mail personally addressed to me inviting me to sign up for BT. A previous item had advertised the wonders of the ECL semis with three foreign teams and omitting City.

Fed up of this junk I went on the website to complain about my name being on their list but I found the CEOs email and asked him to have this stopped and then I had a little moan abouyt their coverage of the ECL.

To my surprise I got an immediate answer and I was amazed to find out it was him. Wed exchanged half a dozen e mails> I was winding him up, in fact I was taking the piss and going a bit too far. But I am not paid millions per year for saying daft things.

So all the quotes I have posted are from the Head Honcho himself. I was astonished at his attitude and in way his naivety and suggested that he should not answer e mails himself and have a PR person to filter stuff both to him and from him. At least he followed that bit of advice as he got a very nice Yorkshire lass to ring me up. He had sent her selected e mails but very tellingly not the complete record because tbh he had made himself look a clown.

That's just not true. I've said this many times now but I've spoken to a number of fans of different clubs at games or on holiday and many have been very positive about City. West Ham, Stoke, Sunderland, West Brom, QPR, even an Everton fan family friend (considering some of them have been bitter about us) all have had good things to say to me about City.
Same here though I do suspect politeness from the Everton, liverpool, utd fans I work with and know.. Between the lines it is obvious they are fucked off jealous about City. When they get together they just slag City and arab oil, no understanding of what City group are doing, just hate.

We've gone from loveable team to loveable rogues to most hated team in the country, and the press have done that (It's understandable because they are mostly Utd share holding media groups and people) and obviously the fans who buy their rags believe it.

The greatest crime though is the division the press bring into the City fans, we dont know what is good for us and what is bad because of the bollocks they spout and some believe. Some publications must be wetting themselves over seeing City fans agree with how shite Hart is, or how poor De-Bryune is for the money

I would like to see a list of publications to boycot, on this forum, made public, none of us should be subscribing or buying that shite, I think they need to see it. Trouble is that it's all so subjective, but I do think a time when selected TV pundits are a fair representation of the teams at the top is coming, BT should lead the way... 1 from City/Utd/Liverpool/etc. I do think in these days of £billions we shouldnt have pundits who carry the flag for their team, it borders on monopoly..... It keeps their team in the spotlight and (at best) ignores the acheivemtns of City.

I mean imagine Utd fans havng to watch a Utd game with true City ex players commentating on it... There would be uproar!

Sorry for all that wall of text, am writing a best mans speech and am in the mood

That is quite scary that he ignores the independent industry figures and makes his own up. Ask him how he arrives at the 10m figure when the BARB figures are nowhere near that.

Brilliant.
that is quite dumb of him certainly. The BT official report makes far more sense, and I can't help thinking that the 1 Million and 10 million are the same source, with an error. However for him to reply like that is just thick.

I have to strongly disagree. I went to the Euros this year and spent a week in Lyon. We talked football to Italians, Belgians, French, Scottish, Norn Irish, Swedes, Welsh & a fair few English and was staggered by the general perception that we have bought all our success & that our stadium is never full. Bearing in mind that these conversation spanned a week and involved various nationality (all who took a huge interest in the EPL), these narrow opinions have to come from somewhere, and it can only be the biased shite spouted through the media.

If the media constantly broadcast the same old lies, eventually people will believe it's true.

On the bright side, judging by the number of Chelsea shirts being worn by the locals, the nouveau rich tag does have a finite lifespan (did see a couple of locals in City gear).
But the Belgians Swedish French and Italians don't watch or read British media
