BT Sport

The interesting question here I suppose is whether Mills knew this and ignored it in favour of his scripted rant, or whether he was completely ignorant of how Barca were doing pre- Pep (and why his predecessor was canned) and spouted his nonsense through nothing but ignorance.

I'm guessing the latter.

i suspect his pre-match research isn't that indepth, and it's balance is set by those who give him stuff to repeat.

Who'd have predicted that City's young defence might look less than superb at times against the likes of Ribery!

Quite apart from at times they did look superb ;)

I have just sent that Simon chap an email. Very pleasant I was but basically saying what I thought of Mrs Mills! Let see if I get any response!?

The truth is that he was employed because he had those views about City.
It takes away the often used statement that no ex City players are pundits yet gives BT the chance to have their main subscribing base happy with his vitriol.

Jeez. I honestly don't know how you guys live with the bias, I really don't. It would drive me up the wall.
We've been through far worse as a fanbase. We've been given far worse shit as a fanbase. Back in the 1990s when we were everyone around the country's second favourite club and the media were always positive about us in the small snippets we ever got it was because we were shit and when we were shit United were at their peak. At the time I was a teenager at school and the shit I used to get off the Rags at school was daily, sometimes hourly. Bearing in mind back then there were homes where both parents were City fans but their kids decided to be Rags because they were winning everything. When we lost 5-0 in the derby I had the other kids in my form all waiting for me at the gates and they all piled on top of me cheering.

This was just my story. This sort of thing will have happened to many blues, young and older, all over the city at the time at school in work in be pub. Daily piss taking! Which is at worse than some media bollocks.

After a while though that starts to mean nothing. They could say the worst thing ever and it meant absolutely nothing. Back then City fans had the thickest skin of any set of fans ever. You couldn't get to us, you couldn't say anything to us that could wind us up.

The daily bollocks we get from the media here is nothing, absolutely nothing compared to the shit we got from the Rags in the 90s and if that didn't get to us then this media shit certainly doesn't! It's meaningless and has absolutely no effect on me and many other City fans. Me and my mates laugh it off, just like we used to with the Rags jibes twenty years ago. Water off a ducks back.

Unfortunately it's not true of all City fans. I don't know why. It's as if the 90s never happened to some of them. That original Agenda thread on this website was an embarrassment to our fanbase, talk about overly sensitive, Christ almighty! And I'm certain that thread fuled journos with the aim to get their articles into the thread and to do so was their big achievement of the week.

I don't know why the skin is so thin with some of our fans but it is. It never used to be like that. But many of us take no notice of the bollocks and we pay it as much attention as it deserves; none! Just like the club themselves do.

I (or my kids) went through all you say. Why they are still City fans is a miracle - others will know what I mean. Dad builds it up all the time and then we get served another disaster - they just quietly shrug. 'One day' I kept saying. And I was right!

But this is different. 20 years on there is a specific evil agenda by particularly BT and to an extent SKY. Before I believe they laughed at us if we did something crap - and boy were we crap. Scum got a lot of coverage as they were the top team and won things. But taking all that into account I think coverage was fair.

Now we are one of Europe's top teams - CL semis FFS - yet there is a constant and deliberate attack, as if - the other night is a good example - we are some semi-professional conference team who dares to play Bayern (we should be playing Mansfield etc the man said) and our manager all of a sudden, now he is here, is a failure.

I dont believe the 2 situations compare in any way. We need to campaign to change this bias.

I didn't mind so much at first. But every year has gradually eaten at my nerves. Being in America l can't compare the first hand news to anything "local." The English media so often dictates American news policy on the Premier League. ESPN, Fox Sports, NY Times (whatever) will pick up the latest "hot take" opinions and run with them.

A decade ago I didn't care. You met someone on the street here in a Man City kit.... they literally wouldn't believe you were a blue. City were considered plucky underachievers who were kind of like the New York Mets of the Premier League.

But now the continuous equivalent of CNN style sports coverage has formed this catch-all attitude about the club. "You're all a bunch of Plastics.... The Sheik is just setting up franchises! If you didn't have that money you'd be relegated by now."

It seems like there is this imaginary status quo they keep moving and we aren't a part of it. When do all the pundits draw so selectively from the present when we are such a big part of it?

It is fine to be called crap when you are crap but when you are constantly being told you're crap at every opportunity nowadays is a different matter. It is purely agenda driven and to say we have thin skins and laugh st them is ridiculous. We should not up put up with this shite any more that we would put up with someone in a pub calling us cnuts. Turning the other cheek is fine in theory but its not for me and it certainly does not stop things as we see as each season passes.

I`ve been going since my dad first took me in 1957 and living in rag central have had to fight my corner possible as much if not more than most so dont give us this softarse bollocks.

If the media keep on telling these lies and falsehoods eventually it is believed and taken as fact.
