I bet they raise the Personal Income Tax Allowance in the October 2028 budget, just to get some of the electorate back onside for the summer 2029 election. You don't need to be Mystic Meg, to see that one, but will folk fall for it.
They’ve already said that the Tory freeze on the personal allowance that stretches to 2028 won’t be extended. I’m not sure what you mean by people falling for it. Every government in history tries to find ways of giving people more money in the second half of their term for obvious reasons.
 
The budget had some surprises so there was always going to be some adjustment and re-adjustment shortly after. It makes SKY News' reporting on the markets yesterday to be, quite frankly, pathetic. 24 hour news channels have a lot to answer for.

What is a surplus pension? Do you mean that amount that you already know you won't spend? If so, how do you know you won't get dementia in the future and need the "surplus" to pay for care. And if 40% is "stolen", at least your heirs may be able to enjoy public services that are better than those we have now. And before you lay in, yes I will be affected by
