Budgetamania 2018

It’s sounding like the IR35 rules that were implemented in the public sector in April 2017 will be brought into the private sector in April 2019.

It raised an extra £400mill a year from public sector contractors, and its estimated that it will raise an additional billion a year from private sector contractors.

There will be some talk about getting more tax from companies such as these, but no details as they haven't got a clue how to go about it.
They haven't got a clue because it's virtually impossible, if it were easy, governments of any colour would have done it.
What isn't impossible though is the business rate fiasco, which sees high street shops paying through the eyes and nose
whilst mega depots, competing in isolated areas attract miniscule rates, these can surely be increased, and the high street eased.

What about huge multinationals? Google, Starbucks?

I think if you start a sentence with what about an alarm bell should ring in your head

Police officer “excuse me sir you’re under arrest for punching that man in the face”

Me “but officer that other bloke punched him several times and tweaked his nipple”

Police officer “ sorry to have bothered you sir, have a good day.”

I am self employed but 20% tax is deducted before I see it.
I know what you mean though as every taxi driver I know tells me he earns £300 a week before tax.

I forgot I was on bluemoon and didn’t add.

* this obviously doesn’t mean every single self employed person is on the fiddle but from experience it is widespread*
