I am putting them in one thread not to have too many on the same topic which is the slow resurgance of openly facist iconography and language

The British Union of Facist were banned i n1940 and were thankfully forgotten, but unfortunately it seems that they were not gone as for the first time since 1939 a BUF flag was unfurled in trafalgar square and more and more stuff like below (appologise if anyone finds it distastefull as I do) are appearing on social media20200830_113103.jpg

When The BUF took to the streets last the good people of this nation united to chase them off and mock their facist shit, we can only hope we do the same now and don't let this become an acceptable norm.

And then you have the banned Britains First wading into hotels harrassing people much lime the facist groups did in the past, thankfully they have been arested and questioned for their actions.

But again it seems to have become less shocking and normalized that these lot are acting like this and gai ing support.

What a sad state of affairs this is in my opinion.

Mods could find the far right thread hence why started this, merge if necessary

Strange as my social media is full of this man.....

I like to think we are still a decent enough country and society to reject this sort of shit long before it gets anywhere beyond an extreme weirdo minority cult. I do wonder if some of the more banal arguments about statues, morris dancers and the proms are an unhelpful distraction from the real evil.

Straw men created by the far right to garner anger and division imo.

Bastards First should be classed as a terrorist organisation for their little hotel stunt which was akin to Nazis hunting Jews.

The whole anti vrus cranks that were in TS yesterday no matter their political thinking are ccunts.

But what I was highlighting was the first appearance of the BUF flag openly since the 30s and how it seems to also be appearing on social media.

I'm not concerned by logos like that because as far as I can see, that is something that's supported by an absolute fraction of the population. Prior to this thread, I honestly can't remember the last time or if I've ever seen that logo.

What's more concerning and more dangerous are the fascists in anti-fascist clothing that are becoming very mainstream in society. We're now seeing people regularly sacked on the basis of their political opinions, we're seeing stronger and stronger laws against free-speech (defended by some on here), and a level of cultural cleansing that you'd normally associate with Mao and Stalin. That's a much, much bigger concern for me and the reaction of voting in ever more extreme Governnents to rally against that fascism is a case of fighting fire with fire.

Nobody will get into power by saying 'we are the fascist alliance', they are a lot more cunning than that and that's what people need to be aware of.

Its certainly a worry that perhaps well intentioned actions by 'liberals' create a pretext for an equal and opposite reaction from the far right. I'm sure the people toppling statues and banning songs, and the people wrapping themselves in the union jack to protect the statues and songs will blame each other, but I see them as two extreme cheeks of the same arse.

There's the middle ground that decent people take, however we are living in a time where you are either with one side or against it. If you're against it you're part of the problem so it seems.

It's time we shut both sides out.

I think most people do, it's just social media like Twitter giving them a voice and trying to turn every debate into an orgy of hate.
