Thanks Damocles for looking at this.

Username (if not yourself): chippy_boy
Date/Time of Occurrence: daily, multiple times
Internet Browser: Firefox 3.6.3
Operating System: Windows XP SP3
Type of Error: I keep getting logged out.
Problem (please be as descriptive as possible):

I log into the forums, do some browsing and make a few posts and then when I come back to the forums again, I find I am not logged in and I have to log in again. I can't seem to indentify any pattern to it. Sometimes I can go hours without it happening. Sometimes only minutes. Logging off or rebooting my PC doesn't seem to be a factor. Sometimes I am still logged in after a reboot. I am trying Internet Explorer now for a while to see if it's a browser issue. At the moment, it's all be with Firefox.

Have you tried a different browser? Yes - see below
Have you tried logging out then in? Yes
Have you tried clearing your cookies/cache? Yes
Have you tried rebooting your machine? Yes

Thanks again

Chippy

Weird one this. Let me know how the browser change goes. Do you use your home or work computer when this happens?

OK, just found out... the problem is not confined to Firefox. Internet Explorer does the same thing... I return after a while and I am logged out again.

I am at home when I have noticed this. Not sure about work. I can't say I've ever noticed it at work, but I don't come on the forums much when at work. I am not behind any VPN or anything like that at home, if that's what you mean. I have a UK ISP with a static IP address, no proxy server or anything wierd.

And yes Bob, I do check the box - but thanks for the suggestion.

Damocles - is this just happening to me, or are there others? It's no big deal obviously, so please don't waste too much time on it, but it is wierd.

I think it's just you. Can you do a HijackThis log so I can see if it's any weird software that's causing the problem on your end? Or maybe it's your browser security settings?

Happening to me as well.

Username (if not yourself): mcfcliam

Problem (please be as descriptive as possible): I browse around the forum and then i click on a thread and it says I'm logged out.

If for some reason you clear your browser history, it does log you out irrespective of whether you have checked the box to stay logged in. Would that be it?

I didn't mean to sound sarcastic or anything. People do forget to do that sometimes.

Hmmm, might be a stupid one this.

Can you tell me do you type/have bookmarked <a class="postlink" href="http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk</a> or <a class="postlink" href="http://bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk</a>

Hmmmmmmmm. A very interesting question. Actually I have a few desktop icons - shortcuts to each of the forums, that I just double-click on.

I have just checked the main one and the link is:

Code:
http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=b0b9e78f7588b356109bd00558110221

(Because I just dragged it to the desktop some while back.)

Do you think this might have something to do with it? Although it's hard to understand why this works for a few hours and then I am later logged out.

Hi mate,

That SID on the end of the link is the Session ID that is created for you. These are stored in our database and have an expiry date. I would imagine that it is happening because your session keeps expiring and logging you out.

Try changing your link to this:

Code:
http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=1

I wondered if that might be something to do with it when I saw the URL.

I'll give it a try without the session ID. (Although strangely it's never been a problem before, so why this should have only started happening recently I don't know. And also - strangely - it hasn't logged me off all day today.)

Anyway, thanks very much for your help and I will give it a try.

Cheers

Well, it just logged me out again :-(

Went in with following shortcut:

Code:
http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=10

and I was logged out.

Type of Error: I keep getting logged out.
Problem (please be as descriptive as possible): I browse around the forum and then i click on a thread and it says I'm logged out.

Have you tried a different browser? Yes
Have you tried logging out then in? Yes
Have you tried clearing your cookies/cache? Yes
Have you tried rebooting your machine? Yes
Keeps happening to me as well, been ongoing now every time I log in for the past few weeks, I'm using the iPhone, but up to the last few weeks never had a single problem, & just can't understand why.

Here's a video to demonstrate the problem:

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf3X7vMEFYI[/youtube]

I can't see how this is a browser problem (since it happens in both Firefox and IE8).

It's very wierd.

If I log in again, I will stay logged in for a few hours and then I get logged out again as above.

Hope this helps?

EDIT: sometimes I fire up the browser and straight away I am not logged in. I don't have to do the page refresh thing, I am just not logged in at all.<br /><br />-- Tue Jun 29, 2010 8:15 am --<br /><br />I have now tried another browser as well - Maxthon - and exactly the same thing happens with that browser too.

So I really don't think this is a problem at my end. Something wierd is going on with the bluemoon software that keeps logging me off for some reason.

It's happening to me all the time!

Date/Time of Occurrence: since I joined and constantly over the last 2 days
Internet Browser: I explorer
Operating System: windows 2005
Type of Error: I keep getting logged out
Problem (please be as descriptive as possible): I browse around the forum and then i click on a thread and it says I'm logged out. I sign on and then after the auto redirect page i'm already logged out.

Have you tried a different browser? not possible on work PC
Have you tried logging out then in? yes
Have you tried clearing your cookies/cache? Yes
Have you tried rebooting your machine? Yes

it is happening to me also, seems to be intermittent

Yeah, it's just banned me :)

Anyway, I'm still looking into this guys but the progress is slow at the moment as I'm ridiculously busy work wise and we have a problem on the server that is causing it to shut down at intermittent intervals.

I'll let you know of any developments and can only really apologise again
