The extension of our home was built in 1992. Apparently the walls to it are drylined to about 5'' thick, and behind are thermalite blocks as the wall, (I am assuming there is a gap between the two?). Obviously both the drylining and the thermalite are soft compared to other materials, so is there any fixings safe to use to mount a TV to it? The TV is a 42'', weighing 9kg, and it really needs to be on a cantilever bracket.

Have looked online but get contradicting advice. Any of you lot here able to answer?

Cheers.

Something like the above. Top ones do up to 30kg in plasterboard

also used these no problem but they need a big hole in your plasterboard and some sizes say not to use on cantilever mounts

That's what I was looking at, but need to find the cavity first.
The Gripit ones say not to use cantilever, but then they say their 'Rhino' ones can, but they look really different from the regular ones.
Thanks.

Them Gripit ones were a nightmare when I tried using them.

Regarding these types of fixings, if the plasterboard has been fixed by dab and dot cement, then sometimes there's no space for the 'prongs' to flip out. I usually just get a longer rawlplug and screw so it goes right through the plasterboard, cavity and into the breezeblock.

Assuming there has to be studs behind the drywall, locate and attach
