I attended Koln v Kiel yesterday, which finished 4-0, but could easily have been 8-3

Great atmosphere, with over 50,000 in the stadium, including around 3,000 who had made the long journey from Kiel.

I was also impressed with the home striker J Cordoba, who resembled an old fashioned battering ram, causing utter panic in the visitors defence.

Did Hennes the goat lead them out.?

half time entertainment made in Cologne

I've just been reading about the unusual friendship between Schalke and Nurnberg, and I' recently witnessed Nurnberg scarves being sold in the Schalke club shop.

I've also heard tales of 1000 Nurnberg fans supporting Schalke in the 1997 ECEC Final in Milan.

Is this true, and if so, where can I order my free gallon of magnets and greasy chip butty for the away game at Sheffield United next season?

The Schalke Nürnberg friendship is definitely a thing and you can often see the Ultras Gelsenkirchen banner in the home end of the Nürnberg supporters and vice versa.

In general those "friendships" seem to be more common on the continent than in the UK for whatever reason and a lot of them have their origin in the 80s/90s when the hooligan thing was still going on and you basically had to form allegiances to survive an away day.

e.g. Offenbach (which is next door to Frankfurt) has a 31 year old friendship with Bayer Leverkusen. The reason is that Leverkusen played in Frankfurt and Frankfurt was out for revenge due to some incidents in the away game at Leverkusen. Offenbach got to Frankfurt as well to support Bayer (the enemy of my enemy is my friend) and thats how the friendship formed.

Frankfurt has long lasting friendships with Chemie Leipzig, Waldhof Mannheim and Atalanta Bergamo in Italy (called the axis of evil). You will often have visitors from Bergamo, Leipzig etc. at Frankfurt home and away games, even at the EL games.

The colours of the above mentioned clubs are pretty much the only Non Frankfurt colours you can wear around the Frankfurt home end without getting kicked out.

I'd suggest registering on the ticket section of each clubs website and monitor when they go on general sale.

"Heimspiele Info" is generally the tab you need to check and you're looking for "Vorverkauf" which will tell you when they go on general sale. Members will have a priority window in advance so they may sell out before general sale.

There are no guarantees you'll get a ticket, so try to avoid derbies or games where the away side is Dortmund or Bayern etc. If the home club is doing well in the league it will be difficult too.

If you can't figure it out, you could email the clubs and in my experience they'll get back to you (in English). They can advise if and/or when you can get a ticket, but they won't bend the rules on letting you buy a ticket prior to it going to general sale.

I've used a fan-to-fan ticket facebook group once for Dortmund tickets, but although it worked out in the end, its a bit ropey as you don't know who you are dealing with (and if you can't speak German it makes it trickier). Persuading sellers to post tickets to England isn't straightforward either.

Other than that, you have Viagogo is a last resort.
Thanks pal. I think the next step is to wait for the fixtures and then plot a weekend from there.

You can buy tickets for Fortuna Dusseldorf at the Tourist Information Centre opposite the main Railway Station.
Bayer Leverkusen rarely sell out and you can buy tickets from their Ticket Office at the stadium (just a short walk from Leverkusen Mittre station).
There's also 2nd Division Bochum and Duisburg if you're struggling
I’d be more than happy to watch Düsseldorf. They’ been quite the entertainers this season. Cheers.
