Here we go again....another EL game, this time against Chelsea and yet another chance for my usual Eintracht Frankfurt propaganda post! Sorry if it is annoying...just love my team!
Another tifo across the whole stadium, this time the center piece was a handpainted banner showing all kind of Ultras Frankfurt stickers and associated groups like Bergamo, Leipzig and Mannheim. The banner took two weeks to paint and just looked amazing in terms of details.
Atmosphere was great as well, however I think pretty much everyone was disappointed with Chelsea. Only 1600 or so made the trip over, they didnt even sell out their allocation.
I know that the EL has no importance for English fans, but its a ground they dont get to see every year so I would have expected them to show up in bigger numbers especially as Frankfurt is so easy to reach with the Airport just around the corner from our ground.
Hopefully we get to play in the CL next season and get up against City, so you lot can show them how its done! ;)
We played pretty well in the first 30 minutes and the roof got taken off when we scored the 1-0. Unfortunately Chelsea became much better in the second half, but at least we managed a draw. Got to see if we can get anything at the Bridge. At least we will have Ante Rebic back, who usually turns up for the important games.
What is really special this season in the bond between fans and team. I am usually someone who doesnt give a lot about players as they usually bugger off the second they get the chance to earn more money somewhere else, so I dont really care about their press statements where they mention how great it is to play for Frankfurt etc, but somehow this team feels different.
Some players and our coach even donated money to Ultras Frankfurt for the tifos (Ultras Frankfurt usually asks for donations from other fans only but obviously everyone is free to donate if they want to).
