Any Schalke fans know if Felix Plater will be playing at the Mini Etihad on Tuesday?

Don´t think so. He is part of the Bundesliga team as long as Huntelaar is out.

but still hope they will play on Tuesday cause they will need the best team vers the best team in the competion.

I saw them draw 1-1 on the opening day at St Pauli. Impressive speed on the counter attack

Indeed. However, the defending can be suspect. However much I like Ramazan Oezcan in goal, he's given away two penalties in as many games; granted the one last night was never a pen. Really need to start winning games again, if they/we want to be going up.

Robben won't win it, but he has probably been the best player in the world for the last year.

Schalke and Leverkusen dropped points again today. The race for the CL spots could get interesting. Wolfsburg look certain to take it and that leaves two spots. Even Dortmund have an outside shot.

[Scaring Europe to Death]

Doing a mini Bundesliga tour in a fortnight with games at Fortuna Dusseldorf, Schalke and Cologne.

Fortuna and Cologne are sorted, but we’ll be arriving in Gelsenkirchen mid Saturday morning. I only know the pub on the right hand side as you exit the hauptbahnhof (0-0 v Mainz last season) and a couple of small bars that were arranged for City fans in 2008.

Is there a main drinking area or should we go nearer to the ground?

I’ll be the 5ft7 drunk who thinks he’s funny with the 7ft Evertonian.

A pub on the training ground at the arena (5meters from the training pitch and no far from the Fanshop)
where Schalke meet prior to the match

Weekdays we often sit there in the beergarden and watch the training of the players and have a lunch there

is perhaps really an interesting place as it is near the birthplace of the club with the historic ground from the 1920s, the historic club pub and the pubs of the fan organizations. It´s also one of the poorest places in the town, so don´t expect any lovely surrounding there.

If you would stay longer, the more interesting pubs are in the northern centre (Buer), three tram stations north of the Arena. Gelsenkirchen was a merger of two towns in the 1920, so it has two centres, which is sometimes a bit confusing for people from outside.

You mentioned Schalke’s original stadium. Is that where they played City in the 1970 ECWC Semi Final?
