Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'm surprised that so many blues are falling for the false 'should have battered them' 'missed opportunity' narrative being peddled so relentlessly by the media.

Burnley don't get battered at home, it was their last hurrah for the season, their last chance to be relevant in a positive way, and most importantly, City were involved in a win or bust game at the weekend, the physical and emotional toll of which should not be underestimated.
The media have a product to sell. They are absolutely gagging for Arsenal to win it due to the 'bottle' narrative they've been selling - they will 100% have stories already written about them winning it for the first time in a generation and then who they have to sign to do it back to back. I can also guarantee that one of the AFTV lot have a City bottle to drink from the first time we drop points.

As Omar from The Wire would say.....all in the game man, all in the game....

He must be thinking I ain't good enough to warrant a start here then after all, and I'm afraid he'd be right.

Many on here think he's the new Rodri, but he isn't
Well NOR is not the new Rodri either looked like a lost child wandering around aimlessly last night. Must be put back in where he belongs for the rest of the season.

People are stupid.

Don’t recall Arsenal turning up at Wolves or Southampton and racking up the goals there recently.

He did ok give it’s clearly not his position. By not starting the other Nico or weakened 2 parts of the team. I sense RAN is pissed off with game time (from his reaction when subbed) tho

Nope I agree he's not on last nights showing, but he's far more trusted than Gonzalez will ever be in a starting 11

Given Arsenal's recent form - and I mean the last 7-8 matches, not just the last 2 or 3 - why is anybody expecting them to win all 5? We played better tonight than they've been playing for the past 2 months
Very true but taking my point out of context

The media hype about City only scoring a single goal vs Burnley is only a dirty trick in they want Arsenal to win the title, When you hate something that much its (ABC) Anybody But City,

Skysport is a fuck joke ? neutral broadcaster my arse, anti-Manchester City broadcaster more like.
Haaland was spot on after the game, the interviewing lady had to be put right. I said it 3 times its the win that counts. She tried and tried to get Haaland to bite, but he was Mr cool
The media should be grateful we have come from nowhere to stop the season being an unopposed title procession for the most unwatchable team on the planet. Without us viewing figures would be in the toilet. Imagine if United had relentlessly hunted down & then knocked Le Arse off the top after 100 days.

I'm glad Arsenal have Athletic Madrid in the CL. Of all the teams, they are horrible to play against. It will be full of emotion, anger, aggression, antics etc.

Hopefully that will effect them in the league.
The ball will be in play for about 25 minutes a game what with all the diving, rolling, time wasting, 3 minute corner setup etc. It's the perfect game for them. They'll be rested!

Apart from a few we have a young team who have not been in a title race before as they are new to the prem or have come from teams lower down, without rodders to guide them we have no idea how they will cope with the pressure , we are just as likely to fold as the arses

We really should not expect perfect performances, it is all about getting the three points

3 points on the board. I was concerned about us having a bit of a hangover after the last sequence of wins, but I think it was promising enough and just more of a matter of having our shooting boots on.

Think Pep was right to go with a consistent team selection recently, we've had 4 or 5 really intense must win games and we've won them all, but signs that some of the players would benefit from a rest last night. Not so much physically, but mentally.

The 3 points was absolutely the top priority and we got them, so job done, but we do have a whole bunch of players who are really talented and are mentally fresh, who possibly feel they have a point to prove and are capable of contributing to winning the title.

Stones, Ake, Gonzalez, Reijnders, Foden, Savinho, Marmoush, and that's not including Dias who's injured. Two or Three of these players could have come into the team last night to freshen things up a bit, and I'd like to see the majority of them start on Saturday.

He’s very good in midfield, but as an 8, not a 6. He was left alone far too much last night and was too wary of position as a result. Lost child is very harsh.

If it was Nico G, NOR and Bernado as a 3, he’d have performed much better.

Guardiola got his selection wrong, it needed Nico G in there as a 6.

Not forgetting Kovacic. If he’s fit he could be an important player for us.
