Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Shades of Fulham away there in the end. No need to panic, Sunday was taxing for everyone. Could have been 4 or 5 on a different night.

Really wasn't as bad a performance that some are making out.

Pep should probably have changed things sooner but we created chances and kept it fairly tight and controlled second half.

Guehi was poor in possession and Semenyo was deservedly subbed.

I think O'Reilly needs to start at LB for the remaining games. Hell eventually be a fantastic midfielder but let's keep him where he's playing well and having an impact.

We are still the form team, just beat Arsenal at the weekend, and the win today really was the most important aspect, to cement the position at the top of the league.

Arsenal fans will be saying this was a good result for them, but really they'll be gutted we didn't draw. Pressure back on them for Newcastle now, who raise their game against the bigger teams.

If we don't win the league this season it won't be a 1 nil away win at Burnley that we look back at and wonder what if.

A win is a win is a win, and top of the league.

Always thought this one would be a banana skin, really disliked the general assumption in the media that we would turn up and steamroller them, guaranteed 3 points. Just glad we didn’t do anything daft and give them a silly goal.

Considering we started almost the entire same team that started against Arsenal, and therefore that they are most probably knackered, we’ll take that - but plenty to ponder before the next one.

Credit to Burnley too for the shift they put in, playing in the right spirit and not giving up even though they looked far short of PL quality.

Onwards we go.
Not just in the media. Everyone talking in the past few days like we'd go and score 4 or 5 here. They're fighting to stay up, it's rare even a bad side will just roll over in those circumstances no matter how poor they are. Never easy against a packed defence.

it is a win and 3 points, but in the scale of the importance of goal difference it might end up bieng total disappointment at the end if Arsenal manage to win all games and score more goals. We have more difficult games, this game was our chance to increase the goal differences in out favour.

That league table looks fucking great. Dead in the water after our two draws and yet here we are…TOP OF THE LEAGUE.
Over to you Arsenal you must get six points and a hatful of goals from your next two.
And Atleti will kick the fuck out of you.
Bring it on.

Arsenal would have got a penalty for that foul on silva?! Why because arsenal whole team would be shouting for one! These small margins we don’t do would get us more goals points!

Never going to easy away against dropping team and after an intense game few days ago.
now let’s see how Lego head reacts

Different game entirely to Sunday. We created plenty of chances against a very defensive, very dogged Burnley team and could have/should have won by a bigger margin. It’s squeaky bum time, particularly for Arsenal and, if they go and blow teams away with fast paced, attacking football at this stage of the season they’ll deservedly be champions but history says they’ll suffer at times like we did tonight.

Five games to go and top of the league. It’s about getting three points at this stage. Arsenal game took more out of than imagined and we couldn’t step up a gear tonight but we still should have scored more. Psychologically though Arsenal no longer top and that’s huge regardless of the final score tonight. Expect changes for Saturday and another nervy game.
You can't leave it to chance though, they undoubtedly have an easier run in and could easily beat this lot by 5 at home in a few weeks.

We can't afford another lacklustre performance like this again, we have to assume it's going down to goal difference and tonight was definitely a missed opportunity despite us going top.
