Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

I don't personally think he crossed a line. As long as the name's are pronounced correctly and he's consistent with every player doing that then I can just write it off as a commentator that doesn't like and/or agree with anglicising pronunciations of names.

It's only pretentious when you put on a fake accent (which he didn't) or say it incorrectly (which he didn't). I pointed out in the match thread Danny Murphy pronounces Cancelo as Canchelo and then just my luck he's on MOTD last night and he does it again. That's where my line is crossed.

It was slightly amusing.
The strange thing was that after Cancelo was subbed he referred to him with the English pronunciation.

What a fucking stupid thing to say 'available left backs out there'. This is not fantasy footy.

Not stupid in any way. Pep knew Cancelo would be a huge upgrade to Danilo so he bought him. The same thing will happen with Zinchenko. He’s only still around because he refuse to go. Zinch is not a world beater in leftback position. If you can’t see that, then I can’t help you. He’s our weak link in defence along with Mendy. The rest of the backline are all world class.

I thought the commentator went way over the line, he sounded like the Alan Partridge of commentators. Sounded like he was taking the piss.
At first I couldn't believe my ears, then I thought it was just hilarious and finally wondered why they'd fished officer Crabtree up to commentate.

The most irritating commentator I’ve ever known. He talked way too much. Silence is as much a tool of a good commentator as as words. We don’t need him to say “Bernardo attacking down the right. Cuts it back to Stones” etc. That’s for the radio. And those pronunciations were stupid. Bernaaadew, Diash etc. He doesn’t have to be a Ron Atkinson but it just sounds forced like that. Just to add to it, his accent is totally unplaceable and that got on my tits too. There’s an element of Rhoticity to it which doesn’t fit.

he was but felt he was unbiased, and praised us in fair and equal measures

Brought to mind Joe Mercer's brilliant punditry during the 1970 World Cup, referring to Eusebio, Cruyff and Pele as "Eusibo", "Johen Croft", and "Peel". I've always thought that Joe only did it for a laugh.
I recall Joe referring to the Argentinian Ratt-in during the 1966 World Cup.

What i have always said , they didnt work side by side but gundy further foward would work

Well, you called it right, but some posters were saying it was peps, "blindspot", there was a thread post named that.many others that they were both "muck".
In fact they are both "elite". which you have "always"said.

what a load of shit ??

Walton said: “It would’ve been checked by the VAR, Stuart Attwell, and he’s got a decision to make and he’s thought possibly the contact was made was incidental in tackling the ball, he might’ve felt it wasn’t a foul, or he felt it was a foul but not clear and obviously wrong, so therefore didn’t draw attention to Martin Atkinson, the referee. "It’s a subjective move, but clearly there was contact made.

? SO WHY HAS HE GOT A DECISTION TO MAKE. its clearly a foul in the box in resulting in a pen ?
could even be deem a sending off if utd was

so please mr walton can you tall me why diving without any contact is deem a pen and a red card for the defender

stockley park are you watching

So much for the final decision being with the on field ref, surely Atwell should have referred it to atkinson for him to make the final decision on the level of contact.

He should have been asked to review the tv himself to check

the thing is (VAR) runs the game and the match officials are given orders its that simple
even corners are now changed in a flash by the referee ? so who's saying different when he gives a dead ball but changes his mind a gives a corner. happened in the last city game at burnley

For me the sooner var follows the path of rugby the better it’ll be and the happier the fans

yep the game is dead and VAR is to blame ?
they have so much control and we was fooled into clear and obvious mistakes only

in the past week VAR has made clear and obvious mistakes not the football players ? when the system fails and you have to right your wrongs in public what is the point ? VAR will make a bigger mess of football that just having match officials ?

clear and obvious mistakes by VAR so what's next. a review of the VAR mistakes and changing results
