Nunes - Cracking volley. Brilliant that he got into that position in open play. Never feels like a RB, but then when he’s not slipping, he is a very solid RWB.
O’Reilly - Very tidy game and added deep attacking intent (beyond Doku) in the 2nd half. Solid.
Dias - Another steady performance. Unlucky for the goal.
Gvardiol- Anonymous, which is kind of a good thing as a CB in a 5-1 win.
Reijnders - Lots of running to little effect. Had a few good interchanges, but fluffed his lines with 2 chances from the edge of the box.
Gonzales - Thought he had a great first half, but got a smidge slower on the ball in the second half. Best game I’ve seen from him playing 90 mins as the pivot. Developing as a very competent understudy.
Foden - Very nice performance knitting the lines together. Worked very hard on defensive side, too. Definitely getting back to his very best.
Savinho - Always feels like he’s almost a brilliant player…but! Frustrating day.
Haaland - Frustrating day for him too until it paid off. Very little good service, but he did a brilliant job knocking down the Nunes assist and then got his just desserts in injury time.
Doku - Starting to show what he’s about. Second MOTM performance in short order. Brilliant attacking force and if he hadn’t been trying so hard to get himself a goal, I think he’d have earned a penalty. Excellent performance.

Dominant first half performance that resulted in the (typical) 1 shot, 1 goal half time. Second half we looked a little labored for a while, although O’Reilly’s marauding beyond Doku looked like it was going to be fruitful. Then, a cross created the second goal and a square ball across the box from MOTM Doku settled the game.

With the game over, Haaland added to his legacy with a couple of striker goals that will have made his day after an hour of frustration.

Nice to see Pep getting his substitutions correct, and in a timely manner.

Considering the general malaise most are feeling about the start to the season, after today’s results, it’s nice to see we are still very much in and amongst the Top 6 before we get a fully fit squad and actually slip into a high gear.

All in all, what looked like it might be a frustrating day turned into an “if Carlsberg did Saturdays” type day, made even better by the fact that Liverpool drew level beyond 83 minutes again, then Palace made him spit out his dummy on 97 minutes with a cracking winner!

Great opening 20 minutes then game gets to easy and sloppy time sets in Burnley couldn't believe their luck . Second half once second scored only one outcome

I think it’s a massive stretch to say he’s been shit since he joined. A rough diamond perhaps but his ability and potential have been obvious since pretty much day one
 
First half slower than a dead slug.
Second half started the same way and then we finally realised we were playing football and woke up.
Happy with the result though the score line flattered us slightly imo.
But fuck the six fingered letter writing cunts.
 
We laboured a bit first half but got the job done. Doku excellent again, Gonzalez decent I thought and nice bit of stat padding at the end by Erling to put some gloss on it. A smart move to rest Rodri as well.

The £63m we turned down for Savinho meanwhile will continue to be one that leaves me scratching my head.

Been a match going City fan since 1977 and can't ever recall seeing the same oppo player scoring 2 own goals for us before. Is it the first time this has happened?
 
I thought Burnley played magnificently today...

You're missing the point. It's the same old shit, everybody imagines these players are AI or something rather than human beings. Donnarumma's punt straight into touch was schoolboy stuff and could have led to a goal from a long throw. But this is the sort of thing that happens in every match and it happens because players are human. People need to begin to understand that if they ever want to get a grasp of the the game.

Not sure it's happened against us before, but the stream I watched said it had happened several times in the PL, I think they mentioned about 6 or 7 names.
 
Only just seen that Palace scored a 98th minute winner!! I turned football off after I saw Liverpool had scored a late equaliser and there was still time to play. Football is a funny thing :D
 
Phil may have not scored or assisted directly but he is such a key player for us and made a huge impact today. I’m so glad he’s finally playing in his natural position. I felt it was not only important to move Gundo and Kev on, not just because of age but because having both over the years never allowed Phil to play in that natural role in between the lines. He was always the most natural successor to David Silva, but there was never room in the team for him to start, as Kev nor Gundo could play out on the wing.

His movement and ability to find space is next level, couple that with his amazing touch, it’s gonna make it very hard for teams to park the bus successfully against us, because if it’s not Phil wreaking havoc in the middle, he’s attracting players and making space for Doku to wreak havoc on the wing.
