Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well, you are fighting human nature and that will win.
Better to ignore an enemy who doesn't know they're in a fight.
The point is it's absurd that you're effectively advocating those who are slagging off the club, the players and the coach on a weekly basis yet calling those out who are defending the very same. If you don't want to defend the club etc. against these bell-ends that's fine, that's your prerogative, but don't try to take away other's right to do so.

Sitting back and doing nothing while shit happens is why there's so much shit flying around.

I have to disagree about Gonzalez. He seems to seriously struggle to keep the ball and gets into too many 50/50 challenges just because his control is lacking. Reijnders is frustrating but he has the benefit of being new. They still allowed 9 shots from Burnley.
Of course you've got to disagree, because you're not really a blue are you? Just another whopper on this site who continually slags this club off! ANOTHER WHOPPER ON IGNORE!! Bye.

A very good first 25 mins, got a goal and could have had a couple more. Then we had a sloppy 10 mins or so before half time and Burnley equalised, (lazy tracking back by Savinho.) This gave Burnley a lift and we were all over the place for a bit, I was glad to see half time. Second half we were much more dominant after the first 10 mins and thoroughly deserved to go in front, good head down by Erling and a great finish by Nunes, who had a great game. From then on we steamrollered them, Doku was excellent and Erling was so unlucky not to have another hat trick. All in all excellent day.
Donnarumma… not much to do really. 6/10
Nunes… Great game, a goal to give us the lead and an assist. 8/10
Dias… steady apart from a couple of loose passes. 6/10
Gvardiol…Steady, not much to do. 6/10
O’Reilly… another good game in defence and attack. star in the making 8/10
Reijnders… Steady, busy and controlling. 7/10
Nico G… controlled the midfield.got stuck in too… 8/10
Foden… involved in a lot of our good play, steady 7/10
Doku… exceptional performance again. MOTM comfortably 9/10
Haaland… good hold up and link up play. Great to see him improving his link up. Unlucky not to have grabbed a late hat trick 8/10
Savinho… Not great today, didn’t get much ball and didn’t make the best use of it when he did. Lazy trotting back for their goal. Average today 5/10
Subs
Bobb…. Some decent touches, thought he’d scored. 6/10
Ake…. Not a lot to do. 6/10
Bernardo… busy and steady when he came on. 7/10
Lewis….Not much to do, steady 6/10

I look at it differently. The Matchday Thread is a bit of fun. Some people do vent when things aren't going well, however when I had my season ticket up to 3 years ago I'd hear some strange stuff from matchday Blues as well. As for your comment about people bemoaning the takeover - God only knows where you get that from on the Matchday Thread.
No I havent seen people openly bemoaning the takeover but throughout this forum, and social media in general, for years, there has been, and still is, a fairly vocal minority of posters who seemingly have grown to hate the club since the takeover. And who reserve special vitriol for every manager who wins things (which I’m glad to say has been all of them since the takeover - all except Mark Hughes who many of the same posters adored and wanted to be kept when it was clear he was out of his depth and would likely have relegated us if he had remained much longer)

- Mancini was ferociously hated from the moment he won the fa cup. Some could not wait to sack him and after the Agueroooooo moment the hatred and calls for his sacking reached fever pitch. No manager in my lifetime, including Pep, would have won the league from the position we were in after the Arsenal game. Mancini did and a small but vocal section never ever forgave him.

- Pellers won a double in his first season and was rewarded by being called - repeatedly - a fucking corpse by a very sizeable number of posters. And that was far from the worst thing people called him.
I well remember him picking a team that won the league cup in his last season and the post match thread - after the GK he picked that day and every round that year, single handedly won us that trophy, - was probably the most disgusting thread I have ever seen on this forum. It was sickening.

- Pep got a free pass in his first season as nobody could realistically call for the head of the greatest manager in the game today in his first season, and it helped that he won nowt that year which temporarily endeared him to these people, but it began slowly in his second and third years and really ramped up in later years. To the point where social media and in here nowadays it is a regular occurrence to see people calling for his head.

Not to mention the plethora of highly skilled players we have turned on and taken various irrational criticism of.

These are the best days of all our football supporting lives but we have a minority of utterly disgusting wankers who are only happy when they are unhappy.
It might be the same at every club, I dunno, but to my eyes we have the absolute worst online fanbase in English football.
And the match day thread is the absolute worst example of it.

We really should get rid of match day threads.

Winning 5-1, with United being laughably useless yet again, the Dippers going down to a 98th-minute winner, and the little added bonus of Chelsea losing.

It’s a magnificent Saturday afternoon to be a Blue. Can’t wait for Match of the Day later.
Hopefully we can add spuds getting beaten to that list?

Phil may have not scored or assisted directly but he is such a key player for us and made a huge impact today. I’m so glad he’s finally playing in his natural position. I felt it was not only important to move Gundo and Kev on, not just because of age but because having both over the years never allowed Phil to play in that natural role in between the lines. He was always the most natural successor to David Silva, but there was never room in the team for him to start, as Kev nor Gundo could play out on the wing.

His movement and ability to find space is next level, couple that with his amazing touch, it’s gonna make it very hard for teams to park the bus successfully against us, because if it’s not Phil wreaking havoc in the middle, he’s attracting players and making space for Doku to wreak havoc on the wing.
Perspective is always good as I often feel that Foden is nowhere near the level of David Silva. However, Silva came to us at 24 years old and had a very shit first 6 months with us. Age wise. Foden has just started his second season with us?

I have to disagree about Gonzalez. He seems to seriously struggle to keep the ball and gets into too many 50/50 challenges just because his control is lacking. Reijnders is frustrating but he has the benefit of being new. They still allowed 9 shots from Burnley.
Did you watch the game at the stadium?
Nico was good today we didn’t miss Rodri so that has to be a major plus Hes not done a full season yet and has settled well still learning what is one of the most difficult roles and most certainly the most difficult in a Pep team
Reijnders isnt much newer than Nico so that a clueless comment

Same reason why as football fans on a football fan forum they can chat what they want and it can be ignored or dwelled upon.
You seem to be one of the dwellers.
Let it slide.
The most frustrating thing on this forum is not the flappers in the match day threads (that i can understand as they struggle through stress and pressure), it's the "I told you so's" in the post match threads that drone on and on and waste my time.
Pm the flapping pricks if you don't like what they say, just leave it out of the post match thread.
P.s. this is not aimed directly at you, btw. No offence, but I'm getting tired of the post-match threads being filled with the same garbage as the in-match thread.
A moaning **** is a moaning **** no matter which thread he posts in. Can you all just knock it off, pretty please?
Uh Ogh.
Shut the windows, lock the doors, turn the lights off and go sit in your dark cupboard.
Your post should generate some noise and berating.

Think the scoreline flatters us a bit but i'll take it all day. We played well enough to comfortably win but not sure it was a 5-1 game.

Doku the clear standout.unplayable again even though walker did a relatively decent job on him. Nice confidence booster and lets hope the scoreline can see us turn up the level another notch now and get a run going. We've got a favourable list of fixtures now and we should be looking to pick up maximum points.

To me we're a top quality right winger, a fully fit Rodri and a proper right sided defender away from being a top of the table side again
