Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

5 goals from which Burnley scored two and gifted another one. Against Arsenal we were far better and impressive. Pep put out a weakened team and was vindicated by the result. We got Rodri to rest, but this performance like Wolves was far from the scoreline.
That’s what happens when we press teams. Either we score the goals or they deflect it in. Job done

So did I but I made the mistake of popping into the matchday thread earlier and some thought he was he was garcia/Phillips regen and utter crap! He did the unsung stuff very well I thought.

Agreed. Our seats were level with the players and he looked quality from my point of view.

Bit laboured in first half and a silly goal conceded. Second half much better, more intent and intensity led to more goals and makes us top scorers in league for now.

I think we can improve significantly, which is just what Jeremy Doku seems to be doing.

Doku's improved massively, I can see and feel it too. Hope he keeps developing because if he continues like this he could be a brutal good player. Got to tip my hat to him - he's been really good the last few games. Was man of the match for me today as well.

I can hold my hands up and say he had all the potential in the world but I thought he'd never have the end product, I remember someone describing his dribbling as someone who was tryna flick a cat off his foot when he was tryna beat his man.

Forgive me if I'm wrong 'ufo' but have you backed Doku whilst he's been consistently wasteful in the final third over the past 18 months
..If you have absolutely fair enough but I don't recall many people on here backing him over the last 18 months.
Well I've been a bit critical over his wastefulness in the past .... he has spoilt much of his own good work with a poor final ball, or by losing the ball before he even gets the chance to deliver one! In short he's previously been such a frustrating player.

But fair play, and over the past couple of league games I've seen a big improvement from him ..... he seems to be working even harder to make his mark upfront, and making a real effort to get back and do his bit to defend when he can ..... I've even noticed rival fans complimenting him, like some of those at Arsenal .... so i really hope he can keep it up, he'll become a better player if he does.

Well happy with that, and a result that didn't flatter us at all.

Apart from a 10-15 minute spell after we scored when we were coasting, we dominated!

We're still not at our fluent best but we've got a lot of lads who are still getting used to our style of play and the playing in the PL.
But you can tell looking at all of them that, they're GOOD players!
When our injured lads get back, we'll have a really good squad that'll will only get better as the season goes on.

A great day result wise too...LOVFL at the rags and the dipper manager crying about the amount of stoppage time!!

Dare I say... our modern day SWP

Good opening 25 mins then drifted a bit until HT and the first 10 mins of the 2nd half. Once we upped the tempo things improved and the goals came. Anyway glad we put 5 past the tossers due to their fans being gobshites on the tram on the way there.

I enjoyed that. The following are the obvious improvements :
1. Greater passion. 2. Greater intent. 3. Moving the ball faster. 4. Better fluidity. 5. Better press. 6. Foden at it. Consequences : 1. Look far more threatening going forward. 2. 5 goals. Burnley are no mugs. They will likely finish mid table. Very good result.

Paralysis by analysis. We won.
This is s great post. I love how you used the parallel aspect of anal to highlight the result. 99% of people wouldnt have come up with that. Perhaps even 99.9%. I also feel like your choice of font is exceptional in its default. Five great words plus a pair of full stops is utter genius. And to go black font shows an element of inclusion and diversity. Hats off. My only complaint would be in what is left unsaid but implied. 8.5 out of 10 though for effort. Well done. You did all forum members proud today. Thanks.
