Having spent the first 11 of my 44 years in Manchester and the remainder in East Lancashire then I'm fairly well placed to comment on this. Burnley the town and their fans aren't the most welcoming on match days. The ground is more or less in the town centre and it's tempting to have a drink there before the match. If you do then be careful what you wear and if you do go there make sure you're in a group because it's not unusual for individuals to get picked off if they're an away fan. City are a big scalp for them and they could be on the look out. Just warning you and it may be I'm being OTT.
Didnt realise we were still in the 80s mate haha, i went the last season they were up and it was fine. I'd personally say the likes of spurs, whu and villa are more dodgey.

Gutted i cant make this one though, was a good day out last time

I can't believe the train takes that long. Get the bus from charlatan st to burnley. X42 I think it is. 3/4 quid and last time I went it took abo

Just make sure you have a piss before you set off. It's a long way to tie a knot in it.

X43 - It takes about 80 mins and costs £9ish return. Save 10 mins and wait at the Moon Under Water.

X43 from Chorlton Street picks up at Higher Broughton and Prestwich, every 15 minutes and takes 75 minutes.

train via Hebden Bridge for 6 of us £9.80 rtn each gonna spend 3 hrs Hebden then theres a train gets into Manchester rd at 10 ast 5, then back to hebden after the game a lot of decent boozers and should be numpty free hopefully

trains about 30 mins from Vic to Hebden and 19 mins between hebden and burnley some are 40 min waiting time though enough to get a quick one supped outside the station

Some great pubs in Hebden Bridge - the Fox and Goose at the bottom of Heptonstall Road has just won CAMRA'S Pub of the Season award and is West Yorkshire's first co-operative/community owned pub, plenty of quality beers, though no draught lagers or food but you can take your own - but as one of the owners I may be a bit biased. Also The Old Gate is excellent for real ale lovers. Todmorden has The Masons Arms, a mile out of the town centre, and the White Hart (Wetherspoons) centrally plus the Polished Knob opposite the market - good cheap beers and food.
