Burnley v City - pre-match

Expecting a very tough game. They've already beaten Liverpool, and Arsenal were very fortunate to win there.

A 12.30 kick off after a Wednesday night European away game makes it even harder for us. Presume there will be a fair bit of rotation - can't see many playing three games in seven days. Virtually impossible predicting Guardiola's line-ups though.

Bravo
Sagna
Stones
Otamendi
Clichy
Fernandinho
Toure
Gundogan
De Bruyne
Nolito
Iheanacho
How can the fact that the game starts at 12.30 rather than 3.00 or even 5.30 make any meaningful difference considering the game will be played in the greater Manchester area?
If we were playing Southampton away you might have a point. This is the sort of crap the" specialist in failure" comes out with!!!

Presumably any additional recovery time will be of benefit to the players, even a matter of hours?

Burnley's not in Greater Manchester, by the way!

we've all seen what high energy teams do to our back 4, Burnley will repeat it.

Conceding on the road is becoming the norm, WBA aside, so we'll have to outscore em.

we'll have a hatful of very good chances, like usual, so it's down to us to take them.

Thanks for the Geography lesson Ric. I have only been to Burnley twice but from recollection it's not that far away from MCC.
Football has really reached a sad state if 2 and a half hours can make any demonstrable difference to how a team will perform and more
importantly if the people in charge of our team are of that way of thinking then we are fucked.

Bye the way 4 or 5 of our side tm will probably not have played in Germany and given that Burnley had a tough game on Monday night and will most likely play the same team
half of our lads should be fresher anyway.

I'd be more annoyed because it's just not the done thing usually. Arsenal play on Sunday which is the norm for a team playing Wednesday night in the champions league, either that or a late Saturday kick off.

That is a valid point. Also I thought the idea of Friday night football was to give some extra time for Euro sides to prepare.

Which, if true, is very shortsighted of Guardiola and the powers that be because if we don't get a good position in the PL we could end up in a rags situation where we are playing on a Thursday night or even, heaven forfend, not even be in any of the European games.

We have to make sure that we are top 4 and hopefully PL Champions and therefore concentrate on games here in England both PL and Cups.

Yup that is my point, it makes no difference from a business point of view if we finish top 3 or 1st, either way we still get CL qualification and approx the same prize money. CL is next thing we need to win, if we win the prem on the way then all well and good.
