Bury fans club AFC start a new life in NWCL

Gary neville spouting off about how the bury fans need to set up a new club.

Heres an idea gary, instead of the vanity project that is Salford City, why dont you and your dopey brother invest in and help out Bury, the team that your mum was secretary of and your dad, neville neville, was heavily involved in.
Plus its your local club.

Can't see it happening - no one is going to vote for relegation, and with no income for a year it doesn't look great debt wise.

Even if they did what happens ? Bury have at least 6-7 matches to catch up on, how do you decide when they play the other teams ? What happens if the new owner cant deliver after 6 games ? This is not being driven by a media campaign with politicians and the like stepping up for publicity. Sorry but it is beyond salvage now.
 
They are asking to be readmitted into div 2 NEXT season.

Still won’t happen.

They're not asking to undertake their fixtures for this season's League 1 games - they know this ship has sailed. They're asking to be re-admitted directly back to League 2 for the start of next season after a new owner has completed a takeover and proved their viability.

There is precedent to demote teams to lower leagues and the club have been informed it would be at level 9, North West Counties League. This itself would make any takeover less likely, further punishing the club. What the club is saying is there are compelling reasons to re-admit them at a much higher level because the last takeover was suspect, the current owner has demonstrated a lack of awareness, professionalism & experience in dealing with EFL regulations due to his own admission of not knowing anything about football or Bury, figures were admitted to the CVA that should not have been therefore complicating or putting off potential bids, the EFL restricted dealings to one single bidder who pulled out at the very last minute publicly citing reasons that had been given in plenty of time which in turn left no time to explore the remaining bids and finally further bids were submitted before the deadline (with proof of funds) but an extension of 24/48/72hrs was not granted while a takeover was completed, a period which would not have caused any further delays in fixtures.

There are so many issues at play here that the club should not be executed without a proper review of everything that has gone on. That is likely to take time so the club should at the very least be re-admitted at the best level possible before they are just swept away.

I said way back that there has to be a time where it is just logistically impossible to let them in - that time was weeks ago.

In fact I've heard someone on the radio suggest that there could be a very simple rule where clubs can not start a season with any overdue football related debt. That would force all clubs to conclude any similar ownership / administration issues in the summer. Makes perfect sense when you think about it as any club who has to re-arrange a fixture is disadvantaged in some way.

In Bury's instance, judging by the speed he works at, they seem to have got stuck with an owner who might not be the brightest. You only have to look at their website to see he is not used to wording professional statements and by his own admission knows little about the sport or the club. Football clubs are more than just a business so it isn't as simple as you suggest. By all means, throw out struggling clubs and their history with it, but then when you get a stale league with poorly supported, ever changing teams, it'll be too late to ask what went wrong.

I think the point is that it could be sorted with a very simple rule. We have had weeks of uncertainty because clubs dont know what there fixture list is. This rule just prevents clubs running in to debt and dragging out a long slow failure. You are either solvent at the start of the season or you are not.

Give them some time to adjust and this simple rule would allow even the thick owners to grasp the concept and get there houses in order. You can only start the season in a basic state of financial health.
