Re: Bury FC

they linked themselves with the Rags

so I think thats where they should go with their
begging bowl and if that fails then they will go bust I have a long memory and they and Stockport can go to the wall for all I care

Don't the Rags play reserve games there, maybe they can help them out, but I wouldn't hold my breath

They did but no longer do, but FC United have squatted there the past 6/7 seasons and they will be moving out when the stadium in Moston is built.

Re: Bury FC

Have to agree with a lot of others on here. They can go and feck themselves! Hate them, they had a massive handout off us last time! Big crowd at the friendly, buckets outside Maine Road and at supporters club meetings (well at least two P&W anyway that I was at) and still they aligned themselves with the rags. They sold, may still do for all I know, rag gear in their club shop, were sponsored by that drunken nob robsons card shop and have close ties with the chuckle family. In short, hope they go the same way as Stockport. They loved kicking us when we were down, some of us have very, very long (and painful) memories!

Re: Bury FC

Horrible to see this happen. I like Bury and go down a few times a season. They sometimes play some decent stuff.
Frankly those currently in charge have got a lot of answers to give. I doubt they will though. 12 months ago a director there, Mark Caitlin, said how the financial situation was a good one for Bury. They may not have been turning huge profits but they were a sustainable club.
Fast forward 12 months and they have been to the PFA for a loan to tide them over. That was paid off by one of the Neville sisters by all accounts. Clearly it wasn't enough. They released season tickets early. Gave a bond issue and sold shares. Less than two months later they are back to the PFA again.
They have got rid of a few players shedding £250,000 off the wage bill but have a thread bare squad.
Last week they had a fans forum. Nothing was even mentioned about this. Now all of a sudden they are weeks away from ceasing to exist.
The million they need is clearly for some debt payment but ultimately to restructure and invest in the club somehow. I don't know how they think they can do this. They really haven't had any ideas before this.
They are also promising a return on the investment. I really think anyone savvy with money looking at the past few months would come to the conclusion that there isn't much chance of that.
Wages have been far too high for the revenues they get. Sadly despite owning their own ground there is no real other areas of revenue from it. It's a basic set up.
SCUM move out when they get their own ground. And I'd hate to know where they will make up that income from.
Things really are looking drab. I was reading about Ebbsfleet in Martin Samuels column in the morning thinking that despite Bury's bad times at least they weren't like Ebbsfleet. Turns out a few hours later that is exactly what they're like.

Local derby against Oldham this Saturday. Will be popping down for my pre semi match I think. May be the last time I get to see Bury in the Football League.

Was that the famous 0-0? I remember they had just lost 4-0 in a friendly to a non-league club. I was sat in with the bury fans and they were ripping the shit out of us.

Don't wish anything bad on them though.

Re: Bury FC

Let the millionaire Neville brothers save them.

Oh and come on Oldham on Saturday.

I think we was 4-0 up at half time,it was anelkas first game in a city shirt(i think) and kk completely changed the team at half time and we ended up winning 4-3...
I remember people laughing at us when we was in the third division and on the bones of our arse and not many people giving a fuck about us...
They should ask fuckin cocks united to lend them a few quid...

Smaller team in shock gloating after a win against City.
Come off it.
No team should be so close to the wire. Look at how much TV deals are for the Prem now. But The FA have done little to protect the other divisions which I think they should have done.
A massive handout off who? Yes there was money put in buckets. Same for Oldham IIRC.
City recently took a promising youth player off Bury. Bury requested a friendly but were refused. I think that's a little off. The new youth deals for lower divisions are bad in reality. PL clubs can take whoever they like and pay a 1 off small fee. It was forced by the PL.

I don't see them aligning themselves with any team. Many Bury fans I know prefer City. If you mean by Uniteds reserves playing there years ago then what's the problem? It's money for them. Same as Hyde taking our cash and input.
The club shop selling rag gear was at a time when Birthdays took over it's running. I think there was some City stuff. Birthdays sold many football items in their shops. Bury fans also hated it. But they were lumped with it for a season.

You're free to dislike them I just think your reasoning's a bit short.

Re: Bury FC

Ask Dale fans if they think Bury should be bailed out.

We or anyone else shouldn't have to help a club who have overspent money they don't have to get to the next level. They are a league two team, if they want to go up a league they should do within their means like Dale.

Hate to say old traditional clubs go to the wall and replaced with the likes of Crawley and Fleetwood but they have to learn a lesson somehow.

Re: Bury FC

14/02/1998 versus Bury at Maine Road 0-1. This eventually proved to be our relegation season into the 3rd tier for the first time. I watched this from the Main Stand. Don't think I've ever felt lower on hearing the final whistle of a match. And then something happened which made me proud to be a Blue like never before. We used to jokingly call the Main Stand the 'moan stand' on the Kippax, and with good reason. Well, they vented their collective spleen that night, stayed in their hundreds to boo City off, but then stayed to applaud the Bury team off (they'd been celebrating with their own fans at the North Stand end).
That gesture says everything about us, and probably wouldn't happen anywhere else.
