For someone who has been roundly assessed on here as being shit, I thought he had a rather positive game tonight.

Lol..very slow.

Drogba isn't fast..doesn't need to be, because he doesn't chase balls over the top a la Bellamy/Agbonlahor etc. It's holding up the ball that he does, which he needs strength for.

I will agree Phil looks slower than a Drogba/Carew type player, but jesus christ, some of the negativity on here is laughable.

If big Phil could rely on the same dominance in the front line that Drogba, and to a lesser extent Carew, have on the ground and even moreso in the air, his pace would not be an issue either.

But he is not that type of dominant force.

He's a decent sort, but for me, not good enough for what we need now.

Agreed, but Drogba is 30+ (?) and Phil is 20. Drogba only got as good as he is by playing games, Phil needs to do the same, not be lambasted everytime he puts a foot wrong.

Seems like he still got some minor injured, that's why his movement looked so slow. Remember when he played under Sven, he was not slow like this.

I thought Evans had more of a presence when he came on and really deserves a start

Thought Big Phill lead the line very well and think he could become a usefull footballer, can only help playing with such intelligent players.

dont judge by the scoresheet...

No, we should judge a striker by his number of clearences shouldn't we?

yup, that and how many sliding tackles he makes..........

pleased for the lad, really really pleased, no one deserves it more than him

I have to be honest i have always liked caicedo he gives that strengh that we need only 19 improving all the time and get the ball to his feet and he will be able to power his way through the chelsea defence and i think he has got a great left foot i think he will be great for city anybody else agree ???

totally he is what we have been missing all season the way we play is good football in the final thrid but when we have it in defence we knock it long so u need him to hold it up and bring the flair players in

I thought he was excellent first half but faded badly in the second, it seems to be a bit of a habit for him, I put it down to age/inexperience though.

If we let him go i think we might regret it, good player with great potential and a good guy as well. I like him and think he can be a very important part of our squad in the future. Good touch and great feet for such a big guy, can beat players with ease, when you're that strong that's a pretty rare combination.
