Callum Doyle

He looks like a championship player and nothing wrong with that, but in football anything can happen, and if Harry maguire can get to the very top then…

Presently,yes he does.

And despite the attempt at sarcasm, the Maguire comparison is probably a good one.

I don't recall Maguire at the age but i can imagine their ability and style was very similar, and all piss taking aside....if Doyle reaches the same level,he will have done brilliantly.

I think some including myself tend to look at a young player and look at his level based on how he is playing in that moment and maybe can underestimate how much they will have improved a few years down the line.

He did ok yesterday but his inexperience showed on several occasions, mostly through poor positioning and slack passes. He excels in the challenge and is brave as a lion but,for a lad with his size,he does struggle a tad in the air.

He's 19 though....and most kids are still learning their trade in youth leagues,so he is definitely on the right path.

The age is the key point. He could spend another 4 seasons on loan and then still have a decade playing for City if he's good enough. I've said it many times before, but unfortunately Pep just doesn't rate the academy system in England. That's why we rarely see players dropped into a team when they're in good form for the EDS. First they have to spend months training with the first team and then they might get a chance. The loan system means we can let them get experience at a higher level, but the problem is they're then playing in a different system and the qualities City and Pep like generally aren't the same.

We'll see how he goes. We've got Lewis, Foden and Palmer all in or around the first team now. Another couple here or there and that's about the most you'd expect to see. The rest will be sold, the best with buy back options, and we'll generate enough money from that model to buy the best talent from around the country.
