Unfortunately it sounds as if he just doesn't care about you or your colleagues.
The rewards for the hierarchy would of been sanctioned by him. He makes the decisions about remuneration for all. Do you think highlighting anything would make a difference except to put your job at threat. The company sounds shabby in it's attitude to its workforce to say the least.
My advice would be keep your head down and look for work elsewhere. I know its difficult to find work atm but I think it's the only way to get better pay and conditions though no guarantee. The current unemployment figures work in employers favour. Always bear in mind though that to be covered under employment law a years service is required.
