Can we have a poll on Dzeko....?

oh guys,

i'm a Bosniean, am proud of it, and I love Dzeko. I started to watch City when he came, and I'll continue doing it, no matter what some bollocks say here.

I really did not want to get into those stupid Dzeko discussions, which are really annoying. You can like any player you want, or slag another one. I never slagged Tevez, Mario or Kun.

All the guys who say, they love Mario more because of this or that, perfectly fine with me. Saying Dzeko was shit... just your opinion, man, like the Dude said :)
When you say, Aguero is miles better than Dzeko... ok. Maybe not miles, i also think he is better. His work rate is unbelievable and I love to watch him on the ball.

But saying Mario is better than Dzeko! :) That's the best Joke I heard here. Comon guys, Mario has done nothing. I personally like him, he is gifted for sure, but just because he is cool, has this killing glance in his eyes, and celebrates his goals in his own style does not make him a good player.

Even if I do not count Dzekos time at Wolsburg or in our national team,
but just what they both have shown for City since Dzekos arrival, Dzeko showed much more, that's for sure. His work rate, his mental ability are far above Marios. He is better finisher, better passer, scored more goals, didn't let the team down because of his ego, and does not feed the media with his behaviour, although Dzekos childhood was also far from perfect.

Mario is talented, he might become a good player. But atm he is just a talent, and nothing more. Dzeko is a proven player, he was Germanys best goal scorer, and the year before he was the 2nd best. And there is also the misconception here, that all play at Wolsburg was built around him, which is not the true. There was also Grafite, who was the best goal scorer when Dzeko was 2nd and they both formed an unplayable duo, the best striker duo ever in Germany.

And also during the World Championchip qualifiers Dzeko was 2nd best scorer with our national team.

So Dzeko is a proven guy, in German, in Bosnias national team, and also here, whereas Mario still has to show, if he is capable of anything serious.
Because like in any other sports or whatever, talent is needed, but hard work and discipline is much more important.

I dont want to slag Mario, or to praise Dzeko. It is ok to love Mario more but saying he is much better than dzeko is just ridiculous. I dont know any football expert who would claim something like that besides some funny guys here. Maybe Mario will be, no one knows, but I hardly believe it.

Nevertheless, I'm also always happy whoever scores, because with time I started to love City. I'll never be a fan, like someone born in Manchester, but I'll be one. No need to prove it to anyone.

You guys should really be lucky having all those players in your staff.
And that's the price of being a big club, fans will come to you from all over the world, not only from Bosnia. Get used to it. And dont be rude to them ;)

Good luck City, and GL to all of our players!

The only thing Edin has to learn to be more successful is to kick lumps out of defenders who have started harassing him big time lately as (as many have noted) Edin doesn't really fight back..when he starts fighting, literally, with them they will start thinking more about getting on his back as often as they do now, which again will be a confidence boost to him...

that is the only thing he's lacking...start fighting ffs...

Apart from win a treble at 18, two Serie A's and be voted the best player in the world under 21?

You mean apart from that?

Mario is better than Dzeko is nearly every category.

When Mario is Dzeko's age...(actually, I don't even want to think about that because he'll probably be breaking records in Italy!)

Without getting into mindless discussion with people on here who just flat out dislike Dzeko (pointless arguing there), to the OP:

Since coming to City one year ago (so, not counting his Wolfsburg days or NT performances) Dzeko has scored....about 20 goals total, more or less?

Some of those 20 goals were unbelievably important to this team (away goal in the cup last year that gave us a chance for silverware, winner at Blackburn, winner at Wigan, sole stomping of Tottenham, you name it).

This all while not being in his top form, must admitt.

I think that's all you need to consider, really. Only flat-out Dzeko haters (plenty on this forum) cannot see his contribution to this team so far.

The guy was also top 5 wanted forwards in Europe at this time last year - if he digressed that much in one year at City (which of course didnt happen, but based on knuckleheads on this board that would be the case) then something is really wrong with this team.

There is my opinion for you OP.

Okay judging from that Tottenham match someone posted, I believe Dzeko definitely is the better player despite what many may say on here.

Already many parts like team ethic, off-pitch, referential bias has been brought up about the Bosnian Diamond and I would just like to point out the fact that Dzeko, is definitely going through bad patch of form, basing soley on the fact that;

1) He's current first touch is SHIT, not poor, SHIT. However, review the earlier matches in this season and you will recognize that Dzeko has excellent first touch, just like Mario's. I still remember last season we had people lauding him for having an excellent first touch during the Blackburn winner.

2) He has a lack of confidence. Facial expression people. Right now, Dzeko seems to be bothered by his lack of goals and has been firing at blanks, even at point black range.

Based on current form, obviously I would start Mario. But look at it this way, last season Rooney had blazing piss poor form and everything he faced last season, poor touch etc, is similarly reflected on Dzeko now.

I love Dzeko, he has an excellent character and truly cares for our club. And stats do not lie that Dzeko and Aguero definitely linked up better.

A fair evaluation.

Dzeko's problem with some "fans" here will always be the fact that he, unlike guys like Aguero and Silva, must do some dirty work i.e. air duels with toughest defenders, etc. etc. - which ultimately leaves space for the likes of Aguero, but "knowledgeable" ones here of course fail to recognize that during the game.

Just re-watch the last game at Liverpool. What you will see is that for example Aguero does not even TRY to jump for the air ball. Do you know how much energy that saves? It is not expected from him. On the other hand, guy like Edin must go for it, as it is expected.

So people judge his first touch in air duels, or two defenders on his back. And that's the battle with "fans" Dzeko will always lose.

Fortunately, not with the manager who ultimately knows who's who on the pitch.

I think it is sad that we are constantly forced into pitching players one against the other on this forum. Unreasonable criticism provokes resentment and unreasonable counter argument.
If everybody would just get behind every player this forum would be much more fun.
When a proven player has a bad game it is so pathetic to watch the bash bigade dismiss him categorically as "gash", "touch of a rapist" - it is hysterical and frivolous and provokes an aggressive response.
If a proven player has a bad game it is enough to say "He played badly this game, hope he's better next game". That is reasonable from a fan. The other stuff is just pampered, petulant, arrogant, infantile, ignorant, hubristic, etc etc etc.

I'd agree with this. He's a big lad and should use agression. Maybe he needs to shave his head?

You've won me over. Balotelli should start on Tuesday! Oh wait. I guess there is at least one important category where Dzeko is better than Balotelli...
