Can you name a better City performance than today?

The recent 4-1 against the rags, won't forget that one easily.

That incredible SWP goal when the ball just slid on the sideline for what seemed to be forever.

I was at The Etihad for our (Swansea City) historic first game of the season,we done well first 30 mins, but we all knew that it was a matter of time before the first goal went in,I appreciate that you've now been bankrolled by a multi billionaire...and any other fecker who says they wouldn't like that to happen to their club is talking bollshite! We have also been in a lot of financial strife like your lot,anyway..for me,Manchester City are now thee team to beat..to watch..to admire, what a team & squad you possess. The Premier League will end up in Manchester whatever the outcome in May,but after talking to a few of your fans after our game there,I genuinely would prefer it to land on the Blue side..your attacking quality is unequalled in any side in world football....I,a Swansea City fan..wish you all the best, for years you've been in the shadows, now it's your turn in the sunshine.

No.

Frighteningly good flowing football at it's best.

Reminded me of Barca v R Madrid last season!!

This might be one for the old boys because for the life of me I can't think of one.[*]

Having supported them since 1969 - I'll be honest, and say Im struggling.
Frankly, they were awesome.
Just frustrated Mancini didn't start playing this way early last Season.............but hey, don't want to put a mocker on it - FANTASTIC!

Probably equally as good and ironically if I'm right the last time a blue scored 4 away in the top flight

David White's day wasn't it ? 23rd seems to be a good date for us after that one and the home derby in '89. Guess who we play next on the 23rd ? 5-1 could be an omen.

Its the manner in which we played today that was so impressive. Sure, we beat the rags 5-1 and 4-1 (I was at both) but today was the first time we actually took a team apart and AWAY from home.

In my distant memory banks I can recall us beating Liverpool at Anfield in the 70's when Rod Marsh smashed the ball in over Clemence's head............or did I dream that one?

FA Cup semi final 2011...... Strewth, some of you have got short memories!!! :-)

Bigger result, not a better performance.
It was a better performance against better opposition. We may not have scored 5, but ManUre are no mugs.

Today's match was against lesser opponents and we had a better team than in the semi-final, but that's not to say today's performance was not top drawer....

and against the same team

Must be something about that lot as well, the 5-2 under Horton was a memorable performance too.

if memory serves me right ossi got the sack on the back of that game.for me it'd be 5-1 against our quiet neighbours as it was on my birthday.you know why we all love quiet neighbours dont you.its because they never cause you a moments trouble or sleepless night but noisey neighbours do.

Jackmack, thank you for your sensible and non-bitter post. Fans of most clubs are so jealous they can't bring themselves to say a good word about us. Good luck to Swansea for the season.

It was like watching Barca and I can't recall thinking that ever before and away to a very decent side that was in the Champions League last season

we're on a different level now

wow

after 50 yrs i dont remember anything close to that.there have been more crucial victories, more emotional ones but not one so classy so skilful and so full of potential. And we will get better.

Ditto. Been CITD since 1971 and for me it HAS to be the 5-1. Car broke down at service station, RAG fans from Bristol gave us a lift a said they'd drop us off after the match. They were ribbing ne and my Dad all the way. Did'nt see them after so my 'old man' paid for a taxi cus he was so chuffed!
Fair play to 'BobbyManc'!

Not even close. Yes, it was against better opposition but I was there that day and we were lucky to go in at H/T at 0-0. We were very ropey for the first 25-30 minutes (still don't know how Berbatov missed those two chances early on). We had a good 15 minutes up to the interval and another 15-20 minutes after it. Then United came on strong again. But the overall performance was nowhere near the level or quality of today's display. Every time we went forward today, we looked like we could score.

Its an old result but I am an older Blue
0-7 against Reading away F A Cup replay after a draw at Maine Road in 68 I guess.
Hitch hiked down and jumped a Finglands coach on the way back.

Reading had the humility to announce just as the match finished that it was one of the finest football performances ever seen at thier ground.

We were breathtaking but todays team I think will be the finest ever to be seen in a City shirt.

I'm with you Bluemoonbaldboy, that night at Vlla Park was pretty special. As someone who has watched City for more than 50 years, I can't not mention the championship decider at Newcastle in 1968, those would be the best away performances I've seen, but today's would be on a par with them. Come on you Blues
