Despite all the crass comments ( that kind of prove their point ) I do think this is a good thing. We have all often commented that in the real world we know trans people, gay people and people of all sorts of orientations yet somehow the world of professional football exclusively has nobody like that within it. Its obviously bullshit and not helped when the head of the league was on record as saying he would advise against coming out.
The more players, staff, grounds staff etc that feel able to be open the better for the game. It can't be the case that forever teams like Stonewall FC and London Falcons FC for example are LGBTQ+ clubs but that orientation doesn't extend beyond the non-league? Players in other sports are out and its time professional football joined the real world.
