At the end of the day Pearce is.being groomed for the job and has.been for some time. However he hasn't had a success with the U21's yet. As soon as he does they will give him the job with that being the justification.

Same with the Olympics. If great Britain win it with him in charge he will have shown his success at a supposedly massive tournament event.

Everyone outside of the FA know he isn't good enough though.
