Capital Punishment.

Said it before, it’s an easy way out.
What id like to see is, for certain cases, a room with no light, a concrete slab for a bed, same for a pillow and no duvet. Someone brings food and posts it through - liquid meals - and no exercise or human contact whatsoever. That is far worse than a pain free death that puts them out of the misery of the thought of never being released. Let them rot and, in the case of that animal today, that kind of life for 52 years.
Why does it have to be pain free :)

Totally respect those whose opinion is against its return however, certain crimes are so heinous, people so evil and so beyond change that given modern forensic science and its ability to prove doubt, I’d certainly have it back.

All that said, I don’t think it ever will be back and I can understand why.

There's no cast iron guarantee that all convictions are safe.

Forensic science can be fudged with or tampered and corruption in police forces isn't 0%.

Andrew Malkinson was acquitted after DNA evidence was found three years after the event. But change the circumstances, no DNA found, and the real perpetrator has killed the victim after the rape.

Most would have happily seen an unknowingly innocent man swing.

Understood but take this case, guilty, no remorse, pre meditated, bang to rights.

He should forfeit his right to share this Earth with the rest of us imo.

As I said in my OP, it won’t happen and I do understand why and respect the opinion of those against.

Very mixed feelings on this one, very emotive.

As a side note i would love to know the financial burden on the state for keeping this **** today locked up for the next 50+ years.

Will never happen though. He will spend his time in ‘relative’ decent conditions, 3 meals a day, plenty of association / visits, medical services on tap and services visiting every week to check his ‘human rights’ are being observed

Sadly you’re correct. Let’s just hope his fellow lifers make it their mission to make his life hell on a daily basis.

I actually think he’d prefer that though.

"According to studies, the average cost of an execution appeal per offender in the USA can range from $1.26 million to $3 million depending on the state, with death penalty cases often costing significantly more than non-death penalty cases due to the lengthy appeals process and complex legal procedures involved; this includes costs for investigation, trial, appeals, and incarceration."

Just found that.
In a purely monetary angle, can you imagine how much it would cost the taxpayer? As there would undoubtedly be an appeals process if Capital Punishment (and every time I say Capital Punishment I think of Tommy Docherty"s slip when talking about football hooligans in the 1970s....can't help it lol) was reintroduced?

“Yes guv, I did it. You got me bang to rights.” The prisoner said in the back of the police car, so we couldn’t record it.

“One cot death is a tragedy, two is a terrible co-incidence, three is murder.”

“Let him have it Derrick”

“There is no doubt that Stefan Kiszcho murdered Lesley Moleseed.”

The investigating policeman who continuously claimed that Colin Stagg killed Rachel Nickell. He did not.
“Colin Stagg has been through a version of justice, albeit truncated, and he has been found not guilty. But I wonder whether he can actually say hand on heart that he believes people will meet him in the street and believe that. I do not believe the system served anybody that particular day.”[7]

If you are talking about Southport.

He committed the crime as a 17yr old.

Even the USA doesn't apply the DP in those circumstances.

Didn’t public executions once attract large crowds of onlookers?

Thankfully we’ve moved on.
