"Captain Tom" charity | Watchdog to review accounts

Correct, they have thus far not found any wrongdoing but the accounts have only been out a few days. The eye brow raiser is that they spent over £126k on consultancy fees for fundraising. They mention using The philanthropic company but it doesn’t indicate if that was their invoice in full that makes it up.

The other bits about spending £37k on setup costs including £5k for the website and £500 for photos and the such all going to the family I don’t think is a problem. They might have been a bit heavy with the prices but they aren’t crazy and it all needed setting up at the outset so folks could give.

Hopefully no wrong doing is uncovered because it would be a terrible end to his legacy. I don’t see the BBC running a story like this - against a so called “national treasure” -unless there was something to question.
Agreed, hopefully they don’t, having had an ex wife who worked for a business consultancy I can easily see why these costs escalate, be interesting to see what happens though mate.

I mean, this is the world we live in. Anybody who's surprised that the sheer amount of money raised wasn't going to see a few discrepancies here and there, well I've got a bridge for sale...

Same treatment as the CC tried to impose on Kid's Company's trustees would seem apt, if they have been fraudulent.

Would see them banned from acting as company directors or trustees of any organisations, including their own consultancy firms.

Is it much different from fraudulently raising money by shaking donation boxes for bogus organisations?

I thought at the time that they only filmed him doing the odd length of his yard and he wasn’t doing all those hours of walking they claimed he was.
